I have a question about professional cyclists. Why are they always such utterly miserable, moody ********?

Lovely to see the team management had the belief in him that other teams (and most of us, if we're honest) didn't have at this stage in his career.

I think it was Lefevre who was asked about this a few days ago, and said he'd gone with his heart over his head.

I saw Cav crying at the end of that semi classic last season, can't remember now whether it was GV or KBK?, when he thought it was his last race. I tended to think it might be too.

Was chuffed to see him sign for the Steppers, but even then I didn't think for one minute he'd be back to this level ever again. He was there or there abouts in some of the smaller Belgium races, but it was only when I think he finally beat Merlier that I began to have some belief.

He's been thrown a lifeline by the Sam Bennett fall out, but it's to Cav's credit that he was at the level to take that lifeline and deliver.

It's an incredible story! Such a feel good one too. I've always loved characters that wear their hearts on their sleeve, and few wear them as openly as Cav.

Absolutely chuffed to bits for him. A true sporting legend!

It is. And the answer is because they all have personalities that were developed under a damp, miserable stone.

What, these ones?

So would you be if you'd just ridden 200km - at a speed us mere mortals couldn't hold for more than a couple of minutes! :lolol:

It does rather pay to sort one's annual leave out well in advance, yes :rave:

In the (sssshhh, keep it quiet) Riis, Armstrong, Ulrich era, I used to take days off for the key Pyrenees and Alps stages. Even with the benefit of hindsight, I still loved it, not least for the incredible scenery and TDF theatre.

Think this one was just under a pebble though. A very happy pebble

There is hope after all.

You can have hours of fun with Sagan too. Just youtube some of his videos.

Ide Schelling is good value too. In fact, if I sat down and thought about it, there's plenty to work with.

Perhaps I've been whoosed?

So, Ven2 today...whos going to be Victorious?

Will we see the likes of M A Lopez, Simon Yates, or Dan Martin try something as they've been incredibly quiet so far in this tour? Will Cav & Froome beat the time cut?

Should be a great stage.

I'm not making predictions anymore, since Victor has let me down a tad so far

Pre race I was going to predict Uran, going better than ever, to podium. But now, and especially with Roglic out, it'll just look like after timing. So I'm saying nowt. Oh.
