As an outsider you have to hand it to them, they've done better than anyone would have predicted before the season. But I wouldn't wanna be a Spurs fan today.

That has to hurt.

They'll forever be in Arsenal's shadow.

For years the arse were in our shadow, its only the last 20 years that they have pushed ahead. The tide is changing and it wont be long before Spurs are the top side in north London again.

Chris Hughton is a guy I have always admired ever since his Ireland days. Can the Spurs groupies say if there is any talk of him becoming a No1 somewhere?

I believe he is happy as number 2 as it means he can continue his work with the Republic as well.

Crowds alone mean nothing; look at Newcastle. Take away Henry from that side, and they're nothing.

Bit harsh, they wouldnt be title contenders, but they would still be good enough for a champions league place. There are still a lot of talented players in that team.

As I said yesterday on a different thread - The board would be more concerned losing Wenger I would think - Thus Dein ignoring him for England job.

I don't remember Arsenal lagging behind the Albion? Must have been when I was overseas.

I'm not convinced. Spurs destroyed them at Highbury minus Henry; I think it'd certainly pull them down to ours and Blackburn/Newcastle's level.

Just out of interest why do we have quite so many Spurs fans on this Brighton board? I'd estimate that they are the most represented team on this board after Albion and Palace. But I just don't get the connection.

Personally I'm an Albion fan, and I don't go posting on Tottenham message boards.

Does anybody know the correlation between Spurs and Albion exactly? What's the history here?

For me I supported Spurs first then started to go watch Brighton to see live football at goldstone.
I guess because peoples other side is spurs because its a local side.

There are some links between the two clubs in Bobby Smith, Joe Kinnear and Alan Mullery but for me it's because I was born in and currently live in north London but was raised mainly in Lewes

Yes, they destroyed them one nil.

Take away Spur's best player that day and it may have been different.

For me Spurs are my 2nd team but when I am talking about them it is always "us" & "we" unless it is in reference to when Brighton play them. Apart from me all of my mums family were born in the Tottenham area and it has always been a family thing to support Spurs. The affinity I have with Spurs is not even on the same planet as the affinity I have with the Albion though.

Pretty much the same here as my Mums / Dads & step dads family are all yids so I have a close bond with them. Seagulls are still my number 1 but Spurs will always have a place in my heart.

Gotta be honest here and admit that i'd normally be the first to say Spurs are a club well above their station who think they have a God given right to win things and to be in Europe. However the way most Spurs Staff/Fans/Players have reacted to the whole food poisoning incident has moved them up a few pegs in my estimation.

I've got to say if the same thing were to happen with us and Palarse i think i'd be goin bananas claiming a conspiracy and demanding a Government/FA/UEFA/FIFA/FBI investigation!

Well done spurs for being so gracious about it i say!
