Potter says not playing Maupay was tactical , can accept that but why wasn't our top scorer on the bench? Why no Connolly. Looked to me against WestBrom that Maupay was asking he needed a striker with him. Wander if something has been said and tactical means the naughty step.

Always think we look more threatening with two up top...maybe not against Tottenham...but definitely against Burnley

It’s not anti Brighton, wanting a loss to make money. Just opportunism, that can go belly up.

I remember the Bton v Villa League Cup tie which Potter threw in Sept 2019. When the teams were announced, the markets didn’t react, so an awful load of NSC’ers piled in and made mini fortunes. They were probably all gutted that Potter did that, but the £ sweetened the pain.

Not betting on Friday though, I think we could well win .... depending on injuries

I really hated that game. Took 3 newbies who afterwards all said, "not doing that again". And honestly, I couldn't blame them.

I had an inkling Potter would do that, so didn’t buy a ticket. I really hate Villa btw.

Without me, my son bless him cycled miles to the Amex. Unlike me he never moans, is hugely positive about all things Albion. Even he was gutted and annoyed when he saw the line ups, a wasted evening of men against boys, followed by a horrible ride home in the dark.

(Yeah I know people said we had injuries, but the next PL line up miraculously included said players. Whilst Villa made it all the way to Wembley with immense luck starting at the Amex).

Insurance, eases the pain. Plus just another cold bet, I couldn’t believe that the bookies were so generous.

Has no influence on real world proceedings.

Just a mentality I can’t get my head round.

Perhaps the money means little to you but I knowing if I had hundreds riding on the Albion not scoring an equaliser with minutes to go, I wouldn’t be willing them on the way I normally am.

Does it not change your mentality? Is part of you not thinking, “Oh well. Never mind. Got the money.” as a chance slips by? Surely as an Albion fan in a situation like tonight you should be feeling gutted? Not feeling comforted by a bet you won against the team you love. It’s almost like a kop-out isn’t it as effectively you don’t have the feeling of losing.

A nice bit of South London
In summary:
- we were the better team
- we played better football
- we couldn’t convert our possession and good play into goals
- a penalty decision went against us
- and that proved decisive

I made a lot of money eg on Bayern winning the CL, when they were long odds. I drew back my stakes, and have been playing with the rest. Ups and downs, but fruitful bets have been Brighton and Liverpool NOT to keep clean sheets. When the winnings havd gone, it’s gone. I’ve only been doing this for a year, after a lifetime of say 6 bets. So because it unexpectedly came my way and I work separately for a decent living, I won’t be gutted. If Brighton had won tonight, I’d be celebrating with everyone else here. Well not everyone, there’s at least one interloper who wants us to crash and burn because we dared sack Hughton.

That’s pretty much the story of our season. We’ve matched Chelsea and Spurs and been unlucky, outplayed Man U convincingly, battered Palace and Newcastle... let’s hope we start to get the points these performances deserve.

Great summary.

That really is us.

We need an Ings to finish teams (although the Saints man might be returning to type after a brief resurgence).

Lucky Man Utd that palace beat

I think we might have had a chance vs Everton without 4 of their best players in Rodriguez, Richarlison, Digne and Captain Coleman. How lucky are Newcastle to play them with those 4 all out?

The fact is we haven't lost against a bottom half team yet, whilst putting in some decent performances against teams who will finish top 8. When we start losing against rubbish then I'll start to be worried.

I went through a gambit of emotions tonight, from expectant, to despondent and eventually; resigned... all prompted by a particularly challenging episode of the number blocks.

10, 10, 10 again.

When I turned my thoughts to the big match, I had a feeling that 350k a week Gareth would ultimately drive a massive stake through my heart, you know, a diamond encrusted pimped up stake with quasi-futuristic lights... it was inevitable, akin to our plucky low budget freebie endevour ending in agonising defeat.

Yet, when I eat my breakfast I can take pride that our manager works so well with what we have and that a young GK played so well against such overwhelming odds... when you consider that one player, a player who came of the bench, probably earns the sum total of our annual wage budget in a mere few months... well... it's frankly astounding that they stumbled so on their way to victory...

a victory, that must surely feel hollow when you consider the universal gap (gulf) between our clubs.

When I eat my breakfast, I look at the table and see a team that cant beat other shit teams that also have low budgets, has won 5 games since December and is in imminent danger of slipping into bottom 3; with a manager that seemingly is on a never-ending learning curve with no ostensible learned outcomes.

Fed up with all this starry-eyed 'wow, how can we compete with these guys' crap. We thumped this lot 3-0 a year ago and need to start believing and performing and getting results like we belong, like we boss others around.

When I eat my breakfast I flip somewhere between your feelings and Kosh's depending on my general mood

A big win is just around the corner.
Love watching this team.
For me this is the best football I’ve ever seen us play, such a shame we can’t see it live.
