My judgement is that he craves the status, rather than the power
Quite.

He’s a sop and a fawner. Being PM, he’ll have all sorts of important people buzzing around him for what they can get. Him being a pathetic people pleaser is only too chuffed to oblige so he feels popular.

They’ll drop him like a bad habit the morning after the next GE.

I've got a theory with Sunak, it's kind of a "i've married a billionaire, I need to show the family i've married into i've got some status to offer" type thing

I think there’s something in that. And as you say, that’s why he won’t quit.

But, not being the alpha male he likes to see himself as, he won’t realise there is nobility in knowing when you’re time is up.

I'll say one thing in the PM's favour. I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong.

Sunk is being pilloried for taking 26 hours to respond to the Hester (again, apologies, I can't recall the exact name and don't wish to) story.

I think it is right and proper that Sunk establish whether the story is factually correct before reacting.

The question is how long did it take to establish the story is true? Hester has apparently apologised (I have not see the verbatim) but the BBC is still referring to the Grauniad quote as 'alleged'.

Not defending Sunk but I'd like to see the precise timelines before throwing him into the sea again, before is £3000 suit has dried out after the last time I threw him in the sea.

Yep. Same as 'Boris' and Trump. Wanted the title, didn't want the hard work that came with it.

And now, depending on which publications you read/believe, they could both potentially be back in power! Madness.

I agree. I think it’s the fumbling before the actual admission / apology that irks me.

Fine, remain silent but he / his spokespersons come out with spin to fill the silence before he commits to a considered response.

Can’t the man just say “I am going to look into this”

And then actually look into it and come to a considered response.

Although I realise by now his credit with the public is rock bottom and that would likely not cut the mustard.

I'm also going to credit Sunak that I believe he does the work. I don't think he's a Johnson type layabout.

I'm going to credit him even further by saying that I believe that under different circumstances he could be a decent mid to high ranking politician.

But he owes his position to a ludicrous rabble, so he has to try to defend positions nobody could defend and pursue policies that nobody could morally justify. He lacks to strength of character and charisma to even attempt to face them down. He will be remembered as a weak failure, the man who handed the tories their worst electoral hiding. But I fear his successor will be worse.

Agreed. He’d possibly make a good bencher somehere but he’s no leader. He simply doesn’t have the mettle.

Probably make a good office runner at one of his wife’s companies.

“When I came into this office this morning, I promised you all coffee. And I have delivered on that promise. Did I get everything right? Of course not. But my predecessor didn’t get it right either. But I am making progress. And that’s what I’ll be judged on, Mrs. Speaker”.

Speaking of Johnson, a good watch on C4, and effing depressing too how this clown made it into power.

A costly lesson for our country I hope we will learn from....

They won't drop him. He'll drop himself straight off to California.

Surprise surprise ! It seems several quite iconic newspapers can find no room on their front pages today to report the current Tory racism scandal.
