This is one of the least surprising new stories I've seen.

But also highlights a lack of investigative journalism. Yes to story was found eventually, but if it wasn't a for a few bits of concrete falling down, we'd have never known.

Not strictly fair, The Times highlighted a year ago, but in amongst all the other corruption, backhanders, incompetence and lies, it really needs something more (like taking it from education and leaving schools unsafe) to constitute a story these days

Official deals worth £35m given to firm with Tory’s husband on board

A Conservative minister’s husband who works for a company that was awarded £35.2 million of government contracts has agreed to change his role to avoid the perception of a conflict of interest. Michael Keegan, 60, the husband of Gillian Keegan, 54, a health minister, works as a Cabinet Office civil servant responsible for the government’s relationship with suppliers and holds a non-executive role on the board of Centerprise International.

We have now got to the stage with this cabal where simple corruption is so commonplace it isn't really newsworthy. But people knew what they were voting for :shootself

Over £35 million?

That's much more like it.

And I’m sure there’s much more we’ll never know about 😞

Get a grip man.

'children of probably quite hard working, well meaning, professionals.'

This bit . . . . Fiction at best.

You don't become a 'greedy, self serving, f*** the populous, at all costs' millionaire by accident. . . It's learned behaviour.

Braverman: parents were a nurse and "worked for a housing association", both immigrants from Africa

Sunak: parents were a GP and a pharmacist, both immigrants from Africa

Keegan: parents were an office manager and a secretary; state school educated

Mogg: all right, you may have a point here...

I'll give you Keegan. She's done well for herself from humble/ordinary beginnings.

Which is what makes their attitude towards others trying to achieve the same all the more disgraceful.
I spent 6 weeks in India, working, the Indian middle/upper classes are worse than the tories . .at least some of those I met were. Treat the majority like absolute filth and are only interested in themselves.

It’s worth reading Private Eye. Full of articles about corruption and cronyism every fortnight. Unfortunately very few get picked up by the MSM - as most of the corrupt are Tories, and their mates own the newspapers.

Does anyone believe his brand of bullshit anymore? Same grand announcements. Same absence of any detail.

“Thanks to the unparalleled talent of our people, our world-leading universities, our unique and highly respected legal system, and the fact the UK is such a brilliant, vibrant place to live, we have long been a hub for global enterprise. My ambition is to go even further – to make Britain the best place in the world to do business.

“With our Brexit freedoms, we are going even further to show that Britain is open for business. And the effect is clear – investors around the world are flocking in to seize the amazing opportunities that we have to offer.

“The declinists and the naysayers were wrong – the economy performed well then and it is coming back stronger today”

Yes, yes, so you keep saying. How? How does this improve the average person’s life? We know the Chinese, Russians, and Indians are “flocking” to buy up all our properties, business and infrastructure. But that’s for them to make profit, not for us to benefit.

Britain is a pretty grim place to be living right now. Thanks to the Tory’s.

The best place in the world to do business. This despite being the only country in the history of the world to impose trade sanctions on itself dealing the worlds largest trading block 22 miles over the channel.

It’s as if the Express believe that their readers are as thick-as-****ing-pigshit.

Still, I suspect their readers are a little underwhelmed about not having a Royal headline, preferably about Princess Diana or her spawn.

Well well well.

It begins.

A valiant attempt by Richie to make out he has hammered out and brokered a deal. When we all know damn well he’s gone cap in hand and begged to be let back in.

Expect a lot of this in the future.

We're now going to be paying £2.6bn a year to be part of something that we were previously paying £1.5bn a year to be part of. Sounds like an excellent deal, and yet another of those fabulous Brexit benefits.

I think Ian Hislop does a grand job with Private Eye. I saw him in an interview on BBC saying that when he gets threats of legal action he knows he must be doing something right. Long may he wind up the Royals, the Tories and all the others with their snouts in the trough.

Pincher going so another by election

20,000 majority to overturn in Tamworth. (30k votes out of 46k votes cast)

Similar majority in Dorries seat.

Labour were second in both

Are they within reach?

Does Sunak get binned if they lose those?
