I doubt Darth Mogg would have mentioned it had it been younger voters who missed out.

Fortunately, it was entitled old Tory’s who probably thought they could just bat the registrars aside with their ration books that missed out and had to harumph their way back home mumbling something about gays and foreigners stealing their votes.

Oh dear. What a pity. Never mind.

Don’t forget to bring your ID with you to the next EU referendum vote 👍
Putting to one side he is admitting they tried to gerrymander/fix and election an failed to do so.

Is that really what happened, or is that Rees Mogg's denial of the reality that people are turning against the Conservative party? Easier to blame 'their voters' not having ID than to admit you've done such a piss poor job you've turned your base off.

Well, hopefully when the Electoral Commission reports it will throw some light on that.

You’d hope they might also look at the fact that a former minister, who was in a position of power and responsibility in the build up to this legislation being passed, has openly stated that it was attempted gerrymandering. The fact that it backfired is immaterial, it was still an attempt to prevent voters from voting. What we have in government at the moment is the very bottom of the cesspool.

Jacob Rees-Mogg has suggested the Conservatives introduced voter ID to boost their election chances, but it came "back to bite them".

The former minister said it had "made it hard for our own voters" to take part in England's local elections.

The polls on 4 May were the first in Britain where people had to show photo ID, such as a passport or driving licence, to vote.

Mr Rees-Mogg said the change had "upset a system that worked perfectly well."

That is their most Orwellian Double Speak ever. The idea that the blue rinse brigade are the ones without ID is incredulous. I genuinely voted against them because of this. I made time before the Utd game to vote because they introduced this so I wouldn't.

I mean, this was always, always, always going to be the case. If there's one demographic that would suffer from lack of ID it'd be the Tory voting elderly.
I don't understand this. Every person over the age of 66 can get a free bus pass (which is accepted ID, it's what I used to vote). I'd have said that pensioners were the one demographic that absolutely had ID

I try not to get angry about it as this is what people wanted and voted for, but just when you think this cabal couldn't be more disgusting

Afghan families in Yorkshire issued with eviction letters from Suella Braverman

This will be the fourth time that some of the families have been forced to move home, sometimes leaving jobs and schools, since being airlifted out of Kabul to the UK in August 2021. They were invited to the UK under Operation Pitting because at least one family member worked closely with the British authorities and it was believed that their lives would be at risk if they remained in Afghanistan.

Apart from destroying Britain's own infrastructure, economy, NHS, Legal system, education, various industries etc etc in their fanatical attempts to line their own pockets while they still can, they are hell bent on demolishing our reputation with the rest of the world. That ditch thing

Older people can be resistant to change. They forget things more often and the messaging, however loud and clear, often gets missed no matter how often it is repeated. Just try teaching new technology to most pensioners!

This Afghan pilot was left behind when the British left Kabul, despite flying with our forces, against the Taliban. He travelled across 5 different countries, arriving here via small boat, and found himself listed for the flight to Rwanda! He was promised protection in 2021, but as everyone now knows. this British government is not to be trusted.

I am ashamed of what Britain has become, and I'm glad my Dad is no longer with us to see it.

i find it highly amusing, trying to deflect from other problems. pretty sure Rees-Mogg was in cabinet and supported at the time.

Just want to undermine Sunak and bring back Boris or install a more right wing loon, he's such a flawed character

So the Tories are starting to make noise about birth rates. How long do we think until they start to look at things like their Republican counter-parts have over the pond?

The simple fact of the matter is that to replace the workers we need via immigration with natives would require far higher tax, as significant incentives would need to be offered to make having kids an attractive proposition. (At present it’s a struggle from a financial and time-juggling perspective)

Not only that, a higher population requires schools, doctors, and housing, not to mention supporting infrastructure.

Then, we wait eighteen years until the first ‘batch’ become work ready. Unless of course Suella is also in favour of child labour. My chimney does need a sweep…

Well yeah but you can't let simple things like facts and logic get in the way of an ideologue doing their thing.

The problem with people born to mothers that didn't want them, is that they often end up in the care system, costing the state thousands and often coming out damaged and not very productive members of society.

I imagine many older Tory voting Mail readers won't use a bus for fear of Islamic ray guns, teens in Hoodies, and people not speaking English.
