Damage might be terrible though. My Mum would do a better job.
Potentially, although IMO indirectly. Truss is simply the most convenient stooge, the real business will be undertaken behind the scenes.

More the unpleasantness but do carry on.Like you I am a bit amazed that anyone would take such a view. This thread probably isn’t for me.
I think you may be right.
A bit like the Brexit thread, I wouldn't think a thread highlighting the inherent dishonesty, dodgy financial and political backers etc of the self absorbed prospective 'New Tory Party' leaders would be the sort of thread for a proud middle of the road 'floating voter' like yourself
Brexit, yeah.
I am sorry if I upset you, I was simply agreeing as I know that once a thread has taken a turn that you no longer want to discuss, then you are then very principled, leave the thread completely and I thought this thread had maybe done the same from your earlier post
I'm genuinely pleased you're still on board, as I do think you are one of the more thoughtful contributors on the political threads, so which of the remaining three candidates do you think will be best and why
.....And I'm so pleased you are back to lurking on NSC constantly giving your ironic thumbs up within a few seconds

I did worry what you were up to when you weren't on NSC 24/7
Suddenly I came over all nostalgic for the days of Thatcher, Keith Joseph, Whitelaw, Carrington and Howe.
Much as I loathed them them at the time (and still do), compared to this shower at least they were vaguely competent.
its like the MPs and members are disconnected. imagine selecting an option for balance then finding out the membership really want that candidate as leader?
until this week Mordaunt was clear favorite from membership, so clever MPs would know what to do here.
A lot of movement at the bookies overnight.
Next Tory Leader looks likely to be a puppet/poodle.

Next Election betting a concern.

Next job for Boris. Surely he won't tell Truss to give him a Cabinet job.

Looks like you've chosen to ignore the reply I made addressing your earlier points?
If you'd like to tell us all what could be worse than the last twelve years and how Labour would have achieved it we're all eyes.
If you want a reply to the above you'll have to be a little clearer. It's a touch ambiguous. Happy to help you when you've put a bit more meat on the bone though
Truss has a lot in common with Johnson, no real plan and no real integrity, another opportunist that doesn't really believe in anything
Can the public be gaslit again? I'd say its possible

No. They can’t be gaslit again.
However, the 160k Tory party members will surely vote for selfish tax cuts rather than the seemingly prudent economics of Sunak. The country is going to be in a pretty awful state by the time Sir Kier takes the resigns.

As far as I am aware the two women you mentioned have got where they are today by their own hard work and determination .
They haven't played the victim card or expected guilt ridden fools to kneel for them . Why don't you get in touch though Twitter ( if that is possible) and call them out for being " BAME traitors " Would be interested to know if you get a response .
I am afraid I don't look back on the Tony Bair PM years with any nostalgia at all although I would like to reset the clock back to 1997 and live those years again , just to make a few changes in decisions that would make current life a bit more fruitful and bearable .
As for people arriving on inflatable boats being treated like criminals , are they being housed in prisons , I wasn't aware of that and shocking if true . Perhaps under a labour government they would be given a Dominos pizza and £200 clothing voucher upon arrival , then transported by coach to a 4 star hotel with full board , laundry service and spending money provided while waiting for suitable free housing to be found for them
If the public elect a Labour Government then they will have looked at the issues and acted accordingly. If they elect a Tory Government then that same public will have been ‘gaslit.’ That’s basically your position and it is one shared by a number of other posters. That’s why there isn’t much point in discussing politics on NSC.
Be interesting to see if any of them watch this. Powerful stuff but I am sure it will be dismissed as woke or leftie or somesuch.
Sunak has listened to Martin Lewis before and acted upon what was said.
