I'm thinking ... 1922 elections, followed very quickly after by a change of rules to reduce the exclusion time from 12 months to 3 months, and then a new vote of no confidence as soon as the 3 months is done.

Edit: Yep, I think critical mass of scandal may have been reached. The Guardian's live feed is turning into a constant flow of reports that point towards Johnson's buffer being gone.

The thousand yard stare on Dorries is I think particularly telling. She's his #1 fan and even she looks like she's contemplating what comes next.

She's thinking about the fact that she had a G&T before the meeting and has to sit through this until the next one... Dear God, she may sober up in between.

On Johnson, is anyone really surprised? His entire schtick is

1. lie about having any knowledge and send out a soulless minion to lie for him;
2. admit some knowledge, but lie about knowing details and send out a soulless minion to lie for him;
3. admit knowing details, but not the full picture and send out a soulless minion to lie for him;
4. admit knowing everything and apologise because he's "learned his lesson" and he wants to just "get on with the job" etc
5. rinse and repeat

West is BEST
“The party have had enough”
“They are finally sick of him”
“He’d lose a vote of no confidence”
“Time is up”

People were saying this 8 months ago. When will people realise? He’s going nowhere. This is Britain now. Get used to it.

Disagree. This one feels different. This one feels like one where events outside government will force their hands. Either he resigns and he gets dragged out kicking and screaming, but I think it's genuinely on the cards now. Not sure this is one where the the civil service (and, as a result, the Tory party) will be able to Pincher their noses to ignore the smell again.

John Penrose, the Conservative MP who resigned as the government’s anti-corruption champion over the Sue Gray report, and Boris Johnson’s response to it, says Simon McDonald’s letter is “dynamite”. He says the reset promised by No 10 after Partygate “has no credibility”.

Tory MPs falling over themselves to give the latest minister to be trotted out a good kicking. Only Dorries in a male mask (Peter Bone) standing up for him.

its funny how again the lies and cover up of them is more damaging than the original incident. i cant understand why they've lied about knowing Pincher's past form when it was a matter in public domain, instead of a different tack. nothing is planned, everything is done on the hoof.

Michael Ellis, the Paymaster General, is today's "PM's Patsy" getting himself tied in knots trying to defend the PM in the House.

Making a complete tit of himself.

Jess Phillips has just eaten him up and spat him out.

Back in the Commons Sarah Jones (Lab) asks Ellis if he has ever forgotten being told about a sexual harassment complaint against a fellow minister.

Ellis says that the PM has “a myriad array of urgent and pressing responsibilites”. He says Boris Johnson “may be told literally hundreds of things in any one day”. Ellis says he would be surprised if Jones has not forgotten things she has been told.

Who wants to tell him forgetting being told about sexual harassment because of how busy you are isn't the flex he thinks it is.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
Johnson now saying he forgot he had been told the end is nigh at last just takes one cabinet member to quit

I forgot is something a 7 year old would say. I'm fairly sure somebody would have reminded him when he appointed Pincher as Deputy Chief Whip.
