I’d wager, if you were being honest, you’re a tad disappointed that no one on here has been championing that result not realising of course none of the main parties stood against the Tory candidate [emoji6]

A direct quote from Anna Firth, new Southend West MP.

“I think the scale of my victory shows that people like the Conservative Government “.

She did get 11,000 more votes than spoiled ballot papers.

It’s now beyond parody. :rotlf:

It has been very amusing, quietly observing the Momentum love in on this thread.
Also nice to Sir Kneel shifting from cheek to cheek, now that the spotlight has been shone on his time in charge of the CPS.

Drawing back on my politics A-Level from over 15 years ago, I think the answer is that it wouldn't change anything as a spoiled ballot is not a vote "for" anything. It would, however, be somewhat awkward for the winning candidate.

I seem to remember someone had drawn a small cock and balls very neatly in the conservative box, and because he didn't go over the lines, they counted it as one for the Tories!

It must be so disappointing for you that there isn't an equivalent of Fox News in the UK to parrot these falsehoods as 'truth'. Instead we've just seen the media completely turn on him for saying that and he's found himself floundering around trying to justify his words.

Maybe you could explain how 'the spotlight has been shone on his time in charge of the CPS'. And remember you don't have parliamentary privilege

Eh? What have you been reading the last few days?

Firstly I haven't seen any posts supporting Momentum in this thread - not many even supporting Labour - most are just piss-taking or despair at the absolute shambles going on in No.10.

And secondly, Boris is fairing far far worse from his Savile comments, he's lost some pretty key members of staff and a letter or two to the 1922 committee. By bringing it up he's only helped Starmer.

A few years ago I helped out an election count and it changed my opinion on whether messages on spoilt ballots mattered. Candidates - or their representatives - often watch the count closely so get to see spoiled papers. A message big enough, clear enough and simple enough will be seen. It won't make a difference, but it's not quite such a scream in the void as I thought it was before.

You do understand what is going on with the Starmer CPS thing right? You do know it’s an Internet lie, quickly disproved and Tory members quit over Johnson’s parliamentary trolling? I mean, you know that, right?

Now I can’t be sure so I apologise in advance if I’ve got this wrong but I think BL might be referring to other sensitive cases during his tenure and by his I mean the son of the toolmaker not BL.

The spotlight showed that victims were reluctant to give evidence to the Surrey and Sussex police. There wasn't a custom of naming celebrities then until Operation Yewtree which was started by Sir Keir Starmer. Names made public so other victims felt braver to come forward knowing they weren't alone.

Your post isn't as damning as you like to think it is.

Take it up with Sir Kneel.... and perhaps recognise that even the Tory inner circle think it was a scurrilous and false accusation?

Ah. Fair enough. I don’t know about those. Strange thing to bring up on a Tory thread but all levels of competence welcome :lolol:

You sound surprised by her narrative[emoji23]

Well, I am quite surprised, yes.

I really didn’t think that they would expose their utter contempt for the electorate by claiming an emphatic victory over, spoiled ballot papers, UKIP, and about half a dozen far right nut jobs. Still, I suppose you have to grab even the small victories at every opportunity.
