The thing is, does Johnson know that his hero Churchill was a pretty poor peacetime PM.

An excellent war time leader , but not that good after WW2. So is Johnson trying to start WW3 to achieve his destiny?

Not sure about the WW3 bit but you are right.
Churchill was a total bellend, a strange man and very much like Johnson in many ways.
He was a good speaker during the war no doubt, but he was surrounded by brilliant military top brass and our military personnel were brave and outstanding and we would not have won without the massive help of many other countries.
Churchill, with help out thought Hitler, who made mistake after mistake, they should have won that war, especially just after Dunkirk.
As a peacetime PM though, he was a bit of an idiot, like Johnson.

To be fair to Churchill, by the time he became PM again he was 77 and was not in good health, he'd already had one minor stroke and, a couple of years into his premiership, he had a major one. For his last couple of years as PM he was not fully compos mentis, something that was covered up back then - but wouldn't be now.

Johnson doesn't have health as an excuse, he's just incompetent

Another adviser to Boris Johnson has reportedly quit after a day of departures dubbed the “meltdown in Downing Street”.

Elena Narozanski, a special adviser to the prime minister on women and equalities, Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and extremism, has resigned, according to Paul Goodman, the editor of Conservative Home.

BoJo probably asking how viable bombing Dresden is. Churchillian AND anti EU. Win, win. Taking back control.

Great to see the change that @BorisJohnson promised in @10DowningStreet being delivered.

Good to see that the new arrangement of deckchairs promised by Captain Edward Smith has finally started to be delivered.

When will No10 start spinning their stunning by election win in Essex?

A 12,000 seat majority, Labour and the Lib Dem’s nowhere to be seen.

Spoiled ballot papers came second.

An awesome win for Johnson.

( This is what we will be told, anyway)

A special advisor on extremism you say -- what, like, autocracy, tyranny, etc?

I’d wager, if you were being honest, you’re a tad disappointed that no one on here has been championing that result not realising of course none of the main parties stood against the Tory candidate [emoji6]

It's kind of amusing and telling that the public set up their own opposition with spoiled papers, was it a close run thing?

how would that work out of interest - if spoiled papers won? would they put the box of ballots slips on a seat in parliament?

It was a more tongue in check post , if I’m honest. I did expect Mouldy boots,or pff to have a bit of a pro Tory celebratory thread.

Drawing back on my politics A-Level from over 15 years ago, I think the answer is that it wouldn't change anything as a spoiled ballot is not a vote "for" anything. It would, however, be somewhat awkward for the winning candidate.

no. however, the spoilts beat UKIP, 1000 to 400. as the largest "established" party standing, signals an end methinks.
