Several new parties revealed, leaving parties etc. Not that it matters, this is what Johnson wants. Overload so people just walk away.

Oh, please, please let it be Truss - it will be a total car crash.

You're right, Ellwood or Tugendhat wouldn't win but they're the sort of candidates that the Tories should be looking at. All current cabinet members will be damned by association.

I still think Hunt ... I'm not much of a gambler but I had a quiet fiver on him a few weeks ago

The Russians are mocking Liz Truss. Mind you. the previous Foreign Secretary told everyone the sea was closed.

I’m crying with laughter at the ineptitude of our own government. A government that has selected the “talent” of Liz Truss to serve as Foreign Secretary.

It’s always nice to have elected a government so poor that we’re openly mocked on the world stage. Still, we’re fed up of experts, so carry on everyone. I’ve no doubt we’ll elect somebody competent one day, for the same reason a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day.

To think she is one of the Tory party members favourites, maybe just stick with Bojo and let them self implode

And now a third today announces they've submitted a letter, Gary Streeter. Seems to be a coordinated drip-drip. I was of the view that we'd know within 24 hours of the release of the document whether 54 would go in, but perhaps there's a different approach, or that has been stymied by the limited content of the report, courtesy of the Met enquiry.

On balance, I still think they won't make it to 54, and the results from the local elections is the next big thing to look out for.

Death of a thousand cuts, though. Long, slow and painful for BoJo the BoZo. What a shame.

Starting to feel like maybe there's some movement now. We don't know how many letters are in already, because until now it's mostly been happening behind the scenes. Boris must be worried that letters going in are now being announced publicly - he must be wondering whether that's all of them, or if others are going in unannounced as well.

If they do reach the threshold of 54 it will be fascinating to see what the Conservative MPs do. If they back him, they are stuck with him for at least another 12 months under their rules; can they take another year of him screwing everything up or will they feel they are better to jettison him and start again with a grown up?

Did Truss really come out with that?

She doesn’t know that the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea are about 1200 miles apart?

Dear God, it’s worse than I thought.

I think Johnson and his crew have managed to completely f*** the British economy for the next 10-20 years in the last 24 months and I don't believe a few weeks either way is going to make much difference now, so I am quite enjoying it

I want to see the look of pain and humiliation of Johnson’s face if he gets the boot. But as I say, he’s not going anywhere. Even if he did, the rot will stay. Sunak, Truss, Darth Mogg, Raab. All corrupt, duplicitous, over privileged, overpaid members of The Rotter’s Club.
Burn them all out.

There was a very big attempt to whip the wavering Tory MP'S back onside last week, lots of promises apparently and wait and see the Leveling Up paper when it's released and Johnson apologising and swearing to clean up his act and Downing St. staff. ... looks like it's not enough, and the recent shameless slander of Keir Starmer has tipped a few more over the edge.

The more that come out publicly, the braver the rest will get as the Whips won't be able to turn the tide.
