That's rather disingenuous. If the Police (Dick) say "don't do that now or you might be prejudicing a Police investigation", then she's best advised not to disobey.

And it doesn't strike you as at all odd that after months of Dick saying they would not investigate "historical" abuses of lockdown regulations, just at the point where Gray was about to publish Dick does the full 180 and decides that it is imperative that the police investigate many of the "historical abuses" that only a few weeks ago she was adamant that they wouldn't.

I must confess I'm not absolutely sure on the legal position. Perhaps a lawyer here could help.

If Gray had told Dick to do one and published the full report, would she be committing a criminal offence given that Gray was acting, de facto, on the instructions of the government?

Why has she even entertained being told by Dick that she can't publish her report? That is an "outside influence" and if you are "independent" then you should not be influenced or swayed by anybody.

And have the IPCC been called in to investigate why police officers who were at the parties or at least been present in and around the buildings where the parties were taking place took no action at the time? I think the answer is no!

What more evidence do you need? It's the establishment looking out for its own. Again.

All I can say is you've clearly judged the matter before the update even got released and refuse to see what's right in front of you: that this "update" from Sue Gray is very damaging for Boris. That is not an update presented by someone "looking out for its own".
