Sussex, by the sea
Which isn't in itself surprising and they are getting external advice from a QC.

Getting pissed up in work garden doesn't appear to have covered by law and probably the law makes Government building exempt anyway.

The problem is obviously the lies both the general public, but parliament.

The lunatic fringe are getting tired of him anyway. Far too free spending and liberal for them...

The whole tory party is a lunatic fringe, with a large circular vaccum in the middle

The law matters less than than the principle in this case.

No one cares about legal technicalities, the moral of one rule for them and different rules for the rest of us matters much more.

I'll be writing to my Tory MP again expressing my fury if they whitewash this.

Or she's a member of the HF on her way down to the Amex tonight

"I couldn't bear to be associated with such a low-rent bunch of hooligans and social misfits" said a member of the HF.

Times reporting the investigation will conclude nothing illegal was done.

And this report is based on input from Number 10. The investigation has been tasked with 'finding the facts', and not to draw conclusions from them. It's the PM that will draw the conclusion from the facts, unless the public or the 1922 via their MPs do.

If it gets down to just one more letter to trigger a challenge and Rees Mogg decides he wants him out, we will have to wait 200 years until the 1922 committee exists in his world.

.. and a barrister to be fair, but a few have posted about. It's irrelevant, he lied to parliament.

Liz Truss has come forward today for formal media interviews in a black business suit with the obligatory Union flag draped in the background.

This confirms to me that the Tory establishment has decided that the time is finally up for Boris.

He's toast and the next PM has now got to put up with the awful decor choice in the PM's flat!
Sadly he's not toast yet. The parties on the eve of Prince Philip's funeral were not parties he attended and could probably deny any knowledge of. Yes, very distasteful but no shit will stick to him over this.

By the sound of things the inquiry will find that nothing illegal will have occurred, merely " Errors of Judgement " or " Failure to comprehend the rules ". He will be found 99% guilty of breaking the rules but will get away with a warning on a technicality as usual.

We are relying on a staff member or a witness to actually stand up and tell all with documentation before he gets nailed.

Not overly much to investigate then really……it happened.

We do need to know who broke the kiddie’s swing though. Priti Patel I reckon

DT extract

Downing Street has apologised to Buckingham Palace over two "deeply regrettable" parties held on the eve of Prince Philip's funeral.

The apology is understood to have been communicated by “official channels” and over the telephone.

Downing Street declined to specify exactly who had communicated the apology.

The Prime Minister's official spokesman told reporters: “It is deeply regrettable that this took place at a time of national mourning. Number 10 has apologised to the Palace."

Sue Gray, the civil servant overseeing the probe into alleged lockdown-breaking government parties, is investigating the two leaving events held in Downing Street on April 16, 2021 - the night before Prince Philip's funeral.

It means those present could be called in by Ms Gray to describe the events, which were revealed in the Telegraph yesterday.

On the evening in question, Britain was in a period of public mourning while Covid restrictions banned indoor mixing. One of the two events was a party for James Slack, Boris Johnson's former director of communications, who this morning apologised “unreservedly”.

The Prime Minister's official spokesman declined to comment on whether he was made aware his son Wilf's swing was allegedly broken on the night of April 16.

Downing Street declined to answer questions on details of the gatherings during the briefing of political reporters on Friday morning. Mr Johnson is spending today working in Downing Street and is not expected to give any public comment today.

Bizarre. I can't work out if this is a demonstration or they're supporting him.

It’s about time someone gave the complete picture about what has gone on in their version of lockdown. This drip feed from newspapers followed by half baked apologies is calamitous. Like him or loathe him I can’t believe that Dominic Cummings would have allowed the Government to self destruct in this manner.

Would bet a reasonable sum that he’s actually driving a lot of it.

Yep. Whatever else he is, he is clearly a very clever and vindictive man. Clearly in it for the power/challenge and not the good of the people. Now he is like the movie "woman spurned" and has even done a bit of mea culpa when slagging off others which seems very out of character. Like a mash up of the films, why just divorce him when you can cut up his clothes, boil his rabbit and stalk his new woman?

To what end would Cummings be driving it ? Besides he's relatively new on the block and doesn't have the connections through politics or, more importantly, journalism

The only way he may be contributing is under the direction of his old mate who introduced him to power, Gove. More likely either to be an ERG focused group, or a 'one nation' conservative group, both of whom Cummings alienated (although, to be fair, he did alienate most people who came across him :lolol:) and both of whom will have the long standing connections needed for this sort of thing.

Exactly…exceptionally bright, but narcissistic. Boris knew that too which why he didn’t get rid of him initially until it became impossible not to, now he’s being methodically destroyed by this (I think) carefully planned drip-feed of incidents which has to be an ‘inside job’ to a large extent.
