Truss has already performed a U-Turn - only thing is that no one realises it - she campaigned to win the Tory members votes on a tax cutting agenda, however before she's even been appointed as PM it's leaked she's about to give away more than double what was spent on furlough in the way of an energy price freeze......
She has to do something pretty drastic and un-Tory like or the country goes bankrupt...businesses have already started closing due to energy costs and that will increase ubempliymebt, non payment of bills, bankruptcy and reducing the governments tax take.. the country could fall off a cliff otherwise. So, I will certainly accept a U-Turn.

I don't disagree - but she had very different views when campaigning for the leadership....

Pretty excited to see who gets the top jobs in her cabinet. Keep checking my phone for updates. Certainly want to see Moggy Braverman there.

Truss will ultimately, like Johnson did, do anything as long as it means they can cling to power for another day. The nature of what they do might change somewhat, but that fundamental will remain the same.

Whereas Johnson was totally out of his depth and tried, unsuccessfully, to wing it, Truss is just totally out of her depth. God knows what will happen, but it won't be pretty.

Me too. That should guarantee a complete failure and the Tories out for years to come.

The weather says it all.

Bright and sunny as Johnson left Downing street.

Dark and bleak as Truss arrives.

Accurately sums up the mood .

True but at least you can comfort yourself she's not Angela Rayner.

It’s all very, very worrying. Truss is an absolute joke. She is a liar and a cretin and I don’t believe a word she says. I believe her less than Johnson.

I’m nailed on voting for Starmer’s centrist Labour now. This is an absolute disaster.

I am going to vote Labour for the first time since 2005 just had enough of the Tories. Labour screwed up with Corbyn but will not make the same mistakes now

Just as Truss gets there it's going to Piss down lol

This general air of schadenfreude is strange, and worrying.

Whether the Govt is Blue, Red, Yellow Green or a mix, I want them to succeed in order that my life, and that of my family and friends, is as comfortable as possible.

Wanting failure in order to stick two fingers up at the cost of personal suffering is most odd.

It'll be difficult to really stuff up the Home Counties. Some folk may have to get supermarket own hummus or buy a less chewy red unless their tax cut offsets the price rises. But let's see how popular she is in the Brexity red wall after another two years of inflation, debt and recession.

Unless, of course, Truss was simply saying what she thought the membership wanted to hear on the hustings and all that stuff about tax cuts was balderdash.

Who wants her to fail?
