Still it's nice that Starmer's announcement of a few days ago even lets the most ardent Brexiteer/Johnson acolytes of the last 6 years to join in with the 'let's all give Johnson' a kicking Celebrations. This. I am not going to cut off my nose to spite my face. He has to go for the good of the country. A strong Conservative party has to be a good thing for the nation, likewise a strong Labour party. The more competition and pressure they put on each other the better.

Exactly. The office of Prime Minister, the notion of service and the nation need him gone today.
I'm on the wagon at the moment but, if and when it happens, I will have an "exception day". Then I will start hoping that his successor is not quite as useless. Because, if it's Raab or Patel we really are Donald Ducked.

They stand for winning. They are the most winnerest party in the history of the UK. That won't change. They have never recovered from losing 3 elections to Tony Blair, and have been clutching at anything and anyone who seems winnery ever since. Decent conservatives (and there are many) need to learn to not be fooled by false prophets promising to win, and reacquaint themselves with the importance of honesty and integrity.
If it is true that the man who agreed to be chancellor yesterday is now asking Johnson to stand down, then this is symptomatic of a sort of political madness that will take the equivalent of chemotherapy to cure.

You are aware that there have been plenty of Governments lasting less than 5 years ? I voted Tory to safeguard our leaving the EU. That’s my reason for my vote and if we went back in time I would vote exactly the same way for the same reason. It is very easy to understand even if you disagree. For all your jibes though the only party I have ever campaigned for is Labour and I am happy to see them returning to their roots.
I invited him yesterday to let us know whether he currently backs Johnson or, instead, supports the conservatives. No reply.

I agree with this completely. Once he is gone and everyone breathes a huge sigh of relief, I think it will gradually dawn on more people over the next few years, Oh F*** what have we done over the last 6 years
I really don't think a week or two either way is going to effect what is going to happen over the next decade significantly

I was under the impression from a post of yours a few weeks ago that you are now not so sure that leaving the EU was necessarily so important that it would define a voting choice, were the time clock to be rewound. I'm a bit surprised that you now appear to still consider that we are better off having left the EU. We have gained nothing, and have created a running sore in Northern Ireland. You still think this would justify voting for Johnson again if we rewound the clock to the last general election?
Personally I thought that Johnson coming to power was worth it in order to ensure Corbyn ceased to lead Labour. I am happy to confess that I had underestimated the extent to which Johnson is useless. Unlike you I certainly wouldn't unblinkingly (it seems) vote the same way again.
I'm a little surprised and somewhat disappointed, to be honest.
If this is what it takes to finally, finally get rid of the Tories, then it’s what it takes. A bit of short term pain is far better for the country in the medium and long term.
