Not one of his constituents so I don't know if he was a 'good' MP at that level.

I am aware of some rather grubby expenses.

However, my impression was that he was less of an utter scumbag than the average Tory of late.

Very happy to see him go. Unfortunately his legacy is to have encouraged and championed the over development of Shoreham with unaffordable, ugly, out of place blocks of flats.

I'm not sure about Ferrari's analogy. I suppose failing to win an overall majority, but sneaking in with a coalition, could be compared to the 1990 FA Cup win with Nick Clegg playing Lee Martin, but I seem to remember Ferguson went on to win 13 League titles, whereas Cameron limped to one overall win before gambling away the nation's future and doing a bunk. I'd suggest a better football manager analogy might be Don Revie.

But probably a bad development. They will be able to claim, with some justification, that their right to peacefully state their views has been frustrated by an executive power because it disagrees with them.

It’s a grimy story and one that requires a full explanation from all involved.
