Quite happy to admit I’m a bit of a soppy git but I thought tonight’s Top Gear was the best episode I can remember for a very long time, possibly ever. The Dad stuff was outstanding, brilliant TV.

Quite enjoyed the Lamborghini Sian too!

I do really like the 3 presenters.

Yes, I really enjoyed it too. I used to like (but not adore) Clarkson and co but have gone off them lately. I tolerated about 20 minutes of their last Grand Tour special before switching off bored.

Paddy and chums seem to be drifting more and more away from Clarkson era Top Gear and more into their own thing. And that’s a good thing, in my view. I wish they’d ditch The Stig and the whooshing car porn shots too. Being restricted to the UK might be a blessing in disguise too.

Funny isn’t it, I said the the missus during tonight’s show “ I’m glad the beeb and TG producers have realised that the Clarkson/Hammond/May formula was the way to go, and now these three are basically doing the same” , really started to enjoy them in the last series, and this episode was pretty good, big fan of The Grand Tour, so I guess I’m happy all round.

Newmarket.
I think tonight's episode was the first with the newer three I've actually found myself really enjoying.
Might've been the subject matter rather than the presenters though.

I liked the Clarkson and co years but got a bit bored with them towards the end.
I lost interest with the replacement presenters,Chris Evans, the bloke from friends, etc.
I stopped watching top gear completely.
I then found myself watching the episode where the current team where in Nepal which is a part of the world I love and I actually thought the new team worked really well and I have been hooked ever since.
I thought the old format should have been dropped when Clarkson and co left but these three have made it their own and in my opinion have improved on it.
I really like the new hosts.

I caught the end of this last night whilst wating for Bloodlands to start. I thought they came across as really false. There was to me a sort of one show forced chummy matiness about it. That bit at the end where they stood around and made badly scripted smug comments to an audience of sycophantic "blokes" was especially cringey.

That bit has always been bad, since time immemorial. If you want to see it REALLY bad, check out The Grand Tour on Amazon Prime...

The best bits of these programs are where they're out on a trip, or the little documentary features they sometimes do about historic cars / people / etc. These are a good program.

Can’t agree they are better than Clarkson, May and Hammond but it’s an unfair comparison really, I like the new trio but I think it takes years to build up the kind of chemistry those three have, Clarkson and co in their later years on BBC and now on Amazon, do come across as too scripted and a bit overly false. But if we are talking prime 2000-2010 Top Gear era those were the best years, perfect balance on mostly unscripted fun and great chemistry.

Loved lasts nights episode though, although I didn’t relate to it much I must say I could see how emotional it made the three of them and particularly Harris who you could visibly see the pain in him and how hard he found it.

Think the show is really back to being a great entertainment format, I ike the current three presenters especially Harris

Yup, that little comment about keeping a tin of Barley Sugars in his own car coz that is what his dad used to do, and then admitting had never told anybody that before, was quite touching.

It's taken a long time, but I think they've finally found the right balance of humour and content. No mega-star presenters but some household names who have actual chemistry

Got to agree with quite a few of the past comments.

The chemistry between the three is really good, and although some lines may be scripted, you can actually see they are enjoying themselves, their emotions are not faked.

Chris has long been a petrolhead and I've followed his driving videos for years, that guy can drive the nuts off any car. Paddy is the bounding puppy dog full of fun and Flintoff the nutter who will do anything for a thrill and a laugh. The people that got these three together deserve full credit as it's not an easy thing to get right.

Result... Top Gear is great to watch again

I really enjoy the current 3 albeit not sure what Freddy Flintoff's 70's porn star look was all about. Harris the star of the show for me.

Am I the only one who finds Paddy irritating, almost to the point of being unwatchable? I've enjoyed the content of the shows and the other two are totally fine. I just can't tolerate Paddy's squeaky, shouting voice though.

Nope - cant stand the bloke and wont watch TG now because of him. Used to enjoy it with Clarkson & Co...but anything with Paddy McG in is a big turn off for me.
