Top 4 is just too much this season. We have too many rookies who will make too many mistakes over the course of the season. Our football also don't really warrant a 4th place, we're not as dominant as you often need to be in a lot of games to get top 4.

Beating the 62 points from 22/23 is more realistic, but even that is a bit of a stretch. I'm thinking we'll end up just below 60 points. Feck knows how high that takes us.

What are average number of points needed for 4th and 6th places

Since we've been in the Premier League the average points required for 4th place is 70*. However 3 times clubs have qualified with less than that, the lowest total being 66 points by Chelsea for their 4th placed finish in 2019-20.

For 6th the average total is 62 points**. Twice clubs have qualified with less than that though with the lowest being 58 by Man United in the 21-22 season.

* Rounded up from actual mean average of 69.85
** Rounded down from actual mean average of 62.28

I agree with you insofar as we don't dominate games that a top 4 side would normally do. We are still learning and integrating new players and once they have gained more experience we will only get better. Its a hugely tall ask this season but Fabian and the squad are aiming high. There is none of this talk of we're only Brighton and the traditional big 6 have bigger resources/ we can't compete etc etc. It's the next games that will tell us a lot against the lower sides. Even winning next 5 or 6 on bounce it'll be great for our league position come Christmas but still a huge ask to keep that form throughout the season.

Agree but City points deduction? If Odegaard and Palmer got injured too….
To give us any chance something like this needs to happen. Whilst we’ve made amazing progress, top 6 is more realistic
