True, it's about time we copied Villa and spent £40m and £90k a week on guaranteed goal machines such as Wesley.

Twelve different goalscorers this season ( excluding assists ) shows the problem. The odd goal scored, here or there, by a different player on a regular basis. Fine if you are Man City who are technically and clinically much better than us ( 14 diff scorers ) Fine if you are Chelsea ( 15 diff scorers ) who have a high class forward in Werner still bedding in, Giroud to come off the bench and free scoring midfielders and full backs. Fine if you are West Ham ( 14 diff scorers ) who generally play just Antonio upfront but have much more firepower out wide and from midfield ( Soucek etc )
That leaves us and Palace ( both 12 diff scorers ) who have issues with strikers not hitting the target enough and rely on odd goals from all over the place. What differentiates us from Palace, is that we don't have the dynamism of Zaha, who regularly changes games for them. We lack that individual class.
The time has come to finally accept that we are not going to be spunking on a quality forward, even if we stay up. We are so close to being a good team, TB is not going to risk it all on an expensive (PL ready) and high earning forward. Just accept it and stop whinging
Its not just signing. Striker, its playing with pace, incision and purpose. We're so ponderous and slow virtually every team has time to skin up, make a pot of tea and some toast before we've stopped passing it sideways elevnty thousand times on the half way line.
Too good to go down though.
I think Lallana and Welbeck were supposed to give us that. Both have been injury prone and in Lallana’s case embarrassingly awful in front of goal. An expensive gamble gone very wrong so far.
Sorry where has this been reported. I haven't seen this anywhere previously.
Genuine question, as I have been under the impression our wage structure has a top level of around £50-60k per week.
My understanding was Lallana was on about £100k a week but we got around that with a signing on bonus and offering a two year contract.
Sometimes emotions cloud our ablilty to understand a situation and it pays to get a different perspective, an outside view to help us get a handle on what is happening.
With that in mind, here is a paragraph from the Newcastle United online fanzine themag.co.uk
Yes Brighton don’t have any quality strikers which contributes to results like last night but you are daft if you don’t recognise they play great football AND are going to stay up this season. They are a far better team this season than Sheffield United, West Brom, Fulham, Newcastle, Burnley and Palace.
So that's that then, conclusive proof we need a striker and we will stay up.

This reads as frustration with Maupay. Maupay has his strengths particularly when playing deep. He is not the one to lead the line. A fit Welbeck is our main hope.
Honest question but why don’t we match tactics like we saw last night ? Last season we were drawing out the opposition and were happy at times to concede possession. In games like yesterday we just continue attacking but are unable to get behind the packed defence.
This with bells on.
Surely when the coaches revue and discuss the previous games, it is patently obvious that our attack is more often than not allowing the defending team enough time to organise themselves?
That’s the very thing that sticks out like a sore thumb.
Idiotic attention-seeking thread.
OP, put your money where your mouth is and buy the club, then.
Pillock.
