It's perfectly possible to hold both these viewpoints simultaneously:

1. City were considerably better and deserved to win, and
2. The officiating was a load of utter big-club-biased bollocks that gave us nothing at all
I hold both these viewpoints - as it’s pretty much obvious to anyone watching the game. No complaint on the result whatsoever. But I will complain about the bias. I’m just glad it wasn’t in a normal prem game when we were competing tbh.

I think we’ll agree that to have a chance of a result against City you need the following:

Us to play close to our best…we were far from it
Them to have an off day…they didn’t
Decisions to be even handed …they weren’t

Agreed. They weren’t even near their best either but a lot went for them too. They barely got out of third gear. At least their fans were horrifically quiet I guess - can’t be fun winning every week by huge margins…

The only positive thing about that officiating is that it didn’t effect the result.

Conscious or subconscious, there’s definitely a bias there, especially when you compare the Foden free kick and the Pedro penalty incidents.
Three pens and knowing a foul from a slip may well have done. How did not that affect the result?

Albion players shit, really shit, relegation shit. But the old nsc smokescreen of an emphasis on poor officials.

Then Ignore Thread and relax.

No-one is blaming the officials for the defeat.

But they did have an absolute shocker tonight, and it should be called out.

The ref was shocking. 2nd and 4th goals just shouldn't have been allowed. The 4th was a challenge with both feet off the ground straight at the keeper. 99/100 a foul and a booking.

Penalties not given for us just showed bias. The runt needs sending back.

Don't believe anyone is saying that City wouldn't have won and been comfortable however the ref was f***ing biased.

If the ref can't get it right when the result doesn't depend on the decisions how can we trust they'll get them right when there's more pressure?

If it wasn't for shit refereeing decisions we would have been in and around the CL places heading into this period of last season.

We've been truly shafted by awful refereeing.

We played Liverpool, Arsenal and City in recent weeks and have got next to zero 50/50 decisions go our way. It does feel like officials are scared to influence the title race.

We were lucky to get nil tonight but the ref and lino were absolutely awful. Spurs last year awful.

The Pedro one was the kicker for me. The officiating made no difference to the result - City would have stuffed us anyway. But it is either incompetant or corrupt.
When Howard Webb took over PGMOL he bleated on about transparency and a new way forward. The amount of blatent errors week after week is just insane. And there is no accountability at all - we just have to accept it and move on.
People pay a lot of money to watch their teams week in and week out. All we ask is for fairness...if this is what the Premier League is about then do i want to spend my money watching a team that gets screwed over like this?

Maybe but probably be best to accept the real problem and be honest about it.

Ultimately he’s going to get away with it because it meant nothing, his officiating was shambolic. I’ve already voted on the general election thread, but I am voting ReformUK solely for the reason that Gillett could get deported. Complete Crap in the A-League and complete crap in this country. Why on Earth we have someone on a placement year in the premier league is BAFFLING to everyone.

He isn’t on a placement year in the PL, he moved over here to take up a research position at John Moores University. He’s been a PL ref since 2021 and before that had been an EFL ref since 2018-19 season. He’s still f***ing awful tho.
