[Albion] Tomer Hemed article - 'made a mistake...staying at Brighton'

Could he be in with a chance on saturday with Ulloa not being available? Always gave 100% even if he was not quite good enough, it would be good to see him have a swansong. He might score the winner that makes us safe which would be the kiss of death on his Albion career!

He was performing well and in good form before his suspension. Unfortunately he couldn't regain the same form when he came back, and Murray's form kept him out. Then we signed new strikers. Certainly the correct decision to keep him in the summer. Would have been stupid to sell considering our lack of options at the time.

Great pro, always give 100% and has a good relationship with the fans. Unfortunately, those three things aren't going to guarantee him a regular starting place in a Premier League team. I like him as a bloke and as a player, but he's down the pecking order for a reason.

Having said that he might (if in the squad) come off the bench on Saturday and score the winner!

Absolutely this, especially the second paragraph! No Leo on Saturday, so l imagine Tomer will be on the bench.

He did make a mistake as he could be playing every week. Nothing wrong with what he's said. I'll be disappointed to see him go. I accept we've grown as a club and that's what happens but have always liked him as a player. We're not safe yet either so a bit premature to be thinking about his ability at this level when we don't know what level we'll be at next season.

He may be considered to be on the bench for Saturday but I would expect him and Baldock to contest the 2nd sub striker role assuming that Locadia and Murray dont both start.so not much chance of getting on the pitch.

He did well for us but unfortunately wasnt able to move up at the same rate as the club is moving.so a parting of the ways seems inevitable in the summer. Probably a move back to Spain would suit him best but Championship clubs may pay more. if they are chasing promotion

They could both be on the bench.

We tend to play 3 wingers/strikers in the starting XI, and 3 on the bench = 6 total.

So...

Ulloa - unavailable
Knockaert - suspended

Start - Murray, March, Izquierdo

Bench - Locadia + 2 from Hemed, Baldock, Skalak

I agree about the 6 but think that Locadia will come on for Murray at some point so Hemed and Baldock will vie for the 2nd substitution if needed unless CH starts Locadia instead of March out wide, in which case 1 or the other may get on.

Agreed, cautious Chris certainly won't start both Murray and Locadia.

He may move Izquierdo to the right and start Locadia out wide on the left instead of March but I dont think that he will We shall probably have to make do with March promising much and producing nothing.as usual.

Too little, too late. Their chance has gone.

Brighton / Hove actually
That's football, players can sit out of games for months in the Prem and many never even feature. All it will take is an injury to be called upon again, and they all earn quite well as back up. Must be tough for Hughton to keep every player happy. He is part of a historic promotion and will always get a heroes welcome when he visits the Amex in the future.

I don't even think there is even much difference between Murray, Ulloa and Hemed.

Without that stamp, he could've played every game and who knows maybe been on double figures by now. He had the shirt at the time and Hughton is quite loathe to take it away from the man in possession. Funny old game innit............................................

That goal v Johnny Evans, was class for a supposed Championship player.
Wherever he goes, I wish him all the best

Skalak's goal a couple of seasons ago was world class, doesn't make him a world class player.

Decent Championship player who's workrate and attitude were greater than his overall ability. Wish him all the best when he goes in the summer but we can't afford sentiment and need a higher quality of player to progress.

Totally agree chap, just that I liked his attitude.

I have no idea how much he earns but I’m sure I have made worse mistakes in my life and they cost me money, so no sympathy from me. He didn’t have to stay and you don’t have to be rocket scientist to know he was unlikely to be a first choice if we were to have any chance of staying in this league. He has a history of moaning about being dropped too. Off you go mate.

If Hemed had not been suspended he would have kept the shirt, and Murray may not have got his good goal run going and instead it could be Tomer in double figures right now. Shit happens. He's a top man. Fact.

I kind of get the feeling that hell will freeze over before Baldock gets a place in the match day squad - his omission from the cup squads was telling, I think. Tough on the lad - I think he deserves at least a run out in the PL at some stage in his career, but c'est la vie.
I'd be delighted to be proved wrong if CH includes him in the squad on Saturday, but I just don't expect it. Chance for Tomer to get on the bench, I reckon - but he'll still be on his way in June.

The club don’t make many cock ups these days but giving Baldock a new contract in the summer after his injuries of the last couple of seasons, and his inability to get any proper game time this season, is one of them.
