Cox needs to learn to protect the ball. He loses possession too often. Ward is a frustrating sort of player in the same mould, some nice stuff, some ragged stuff, both would do well to stick to the basics at times. That really is what makes Bertin stand out, he does the basic stuff so, so, well. I really hope we sign the lad on contract before someone else nips in - and they will if he keeps playing consistently. Anyone that knows about the technical side of football knows what a player like that gives a team. As for Gatting, he is never going to be a fans favourite. His demeanour on the pitch is odd, doesn't look like he enjoys playing the game and has an odd style. Hardly looks fired up at all. I think his problem is that in his youth team games he was a big lump who could bump markers to get that extra yard, at the senior level though it simply doesn't work and his main tactic of stepping towards his marker when killing the ball simply doesn't work. On and the fact he fails to kill the ball doesn't help either. Poor lad looks a little out of his depth to be honest. Thank God for Hammonds good form this season, and Bertins arrival.

Mayo, our best defender? I beg to differ. He was dreadful.
That is complete bollocks.

Sorry.

A couple of very classy corners. Some superb tackles. Some excellent work coming forward. And good balls into the box.

A complete contrast to the dodgy hoofer on the other side of the park.

Gatting 0 - how can you rate a player who didn't contribute?

Subs:

Fraser 0 - see Gatting. Did his usual show of anonymity, but instead of not actually touching the ball he polished this display off with a shocking cross AND a red card. Bravo.

The Complete Badger 0 contributes a lot, but as usual its a load of old shite.
which of Gatting & Fraser are you aiming to drive out of the club next?
what a cock!

Either would do me fine.

Sorry. Six or seven dreadful corners (not clearing the first man). Didn't once get to the by line for a cross and some aimless passes straight out of play. Having said that he was better than El Abd.

Have you noticed how many games we win when Mayo doesn't play?

Now i agree that Mayo had a good game, but 'a couple of very classy corners'?

Surely a slight exagguration?:lolol:

That's a bit harsh. Maybe give them more time in the reserves (remember, they've skipped this stage and gone from Youth to First team level). You never know, they might come good - just look at Hammond, now possibly our best player!

I'd be happy with that, they just look out of their depth in the first team.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
On Fraser and Gatting, young players progress at different speeds. Fraser has played much of his FIRST SEASON out of position and Gatting in his FIRST FULL SEASON will progress. There are sparks of what they can do and they are both still learning their trade within the rigours of League One and it will take time. Patience is the key!! Of course, they may not be heading for long successful Albion careers, but then of course, they might!

All I have basically said is that neither contributed anything positive to today's performance, and that at the moment they aren't suggesting to me they can turn into good players. Why is it that some people seem to think criticising players is wrong and something to avoid? It's FOOTBALL for christ sake. I'm just as quick to praise players I like, so get over it and accept an opinion!

Nothing wrong with critising players who dont perform, which I agree neither did today. However you should remind yourself that these players are in their first season & have time on their side.At most other clubs they would be eased into the side over a period of time, learning their trade & developing their game in the reserves. Some pratt cheered when Gatting was subbed at half time - just the thing to build a youngsters confidence (it was the same twat that threw the bottle at the Bristol bench) I would like to know your criteria for marking players performances, after all there were others that didnt earn their money today.

both could do with a spell out of the side & would probably come back looking fresher.
I thought Ward was the worst player on the pitch but would stll mark him as a 3/4 just for nuicsence value, I know a few on here rate him but personally I dont think he could pass water. when all said and done we're all entitled to our opinions so I apologise for calling you a cock even though I still dont agree with your ratings
