Was so bloody close to bakery perfection, it hurt.

I opened the box and it genuinely looked picture perfect, for the first time.
It was hot but not scalding.
It was full of massive chunks of meat.
It wasn't overly seasoned.
It was so flavoursome.

It was only the Chicken & Ham.

If my next steak one isn't close to this standard I'm converting.

Chicken & Ham beats Steak & Ale. Scientific experiments prove it. Veggie one don't count.

Woke up this morning in the full knowledge that I was coming down with a virus, (details ommitted) very concerned that I wasn't going to have the full match-day experience. Got to the ground and wolfed down a glorious chicken and ham pie and a couple of pints of Harveys, I felt good. Fabulous pie, great beer. I'll probably feel like shit tomorrow.

Is there really any reason for yet another thread about the pies?

Yes! Because I agree with every comment you have made about them. They are soooo good. Anyone still eating Burgers and Hotdogs....Why? Have you not tried the pies yet?

today i thought i would give the Veggie one a bash, no i am not Veggie, but unless you have tried them you cannot say that they are not for you.

Well TBH i was a touch disappointed, it was shallower than a meat filled one, and in my opinion no where near as tasty. It was not seasoned enough for my palette, and seemed to be devoid of any real distinctive taste. The pastry was nice, as per other pies, and it was hot. This was washed down with a couple of pints of Harveys.

well i have now tried and they are not for me. Chicken and Ham at the scouse game!!!

My youngest lad was down for the match and had a great day. He reckoned the pie was awesome (Steak and Ale) and quite liked the Harveys (well he is only 19). Great day was had by the lad all in all.

I was disappointed with the steak and ale pie at Gillingham as it contained MUSHROOM, which I hate. (otherwise perfect) As also don't like bechemal so avoided chicken and ham and went for the veggie one today. Which was DELICIOUS.

Haven't tried the steak one yet, but the chicken and ham one is too dry! It's impossible to eat it without drinking something.

The veggie one, however, is absolutely superb.

I've come back home.
My veggie pie today (post match, north stand, equidistant between Westend bar and stewards room, 1715hrs) stopped a women in her tracks! There i was scoffing it down and she was walking past, stopped, sniffed the air in a kinda meerkat way, looked round at my work of pie art and said 'oh..oh my..ummm'. She turned and continued on her journey. It really was rather funny.

If it was being filmed it would have been the best commercial ever made!
