and are going to Kerry's testimonial.

I hope he still has the jinks and ball control and eye for goal that made him the most exciting Albion player, I have seen in 30 years.

Sadly I won't be there but here's hoping that the buzz that went through the crowd when he got the ball and started jinking forward can be repeated just one more time, maybe he can leave a trail of defenders sitting on their arses as he slots the ball into the far corner....

Someone give him a curly wig to play in though!!

:bowdown: now he is what I'd call a genuine legend

Are you kidding??
You'd have to be living in a curly-wurly chocolate factory world if you imagine that, 30years later, Wardy is going on those spritely jinking runs that left defenders floundering!

He's a legend, and just having him be there, is outstanding.
I realise you're paying him tribute, but let's be realistic here!

He is, as most will agree, the most amazing striker ever to pull on football boots for Brighton. Some might say, the best they ever saw play, for any team.

He shot, and yes indeed, he did score :clap2:

He certainly is a legend. You summed him up so well. I can still remember the excitement that went around the ground when he got the ball. Plus, I remember the match report in the Argus when he scored aftre 59 secs. I think it was Derby or Hereford.

As a 12 year old he was the player that I pretended to be when I was kicking a ball about in the school playground. He truly was a great for the Albion and when Falmer comes around, there should at least part of the stadium named after him.

I so wish I was there. To those of you not old enough to see him play, you are soooo lucky. Give him a big cheer

What with advanced years and a recent hip replacement operation I doubt very much if he will do much in the game but the mere fact that he will be there is testament to the greatest goalscorer this club has ever had during my 60 years of watching them.

Possibly but remember he'll be up against equally unfit and probably lardy defenders so who knows??

Speaking as someone who never got to see him play, I can't wait.

The likes of Wardy, Gordon Smith, Jimmy Case, Steve Foster et al, along with the more modern participants like Reinelt, Zamora (possibly, I keep reading different reports as to whether he'll be there) would make it a good day on it's own for me.

Add in a friendly against Premiership opposition, a chance to show Kerry how much we appreciate his efforts over the last 10 years, and of course the obvious buzz after Tuesday's news, and you have the making of a bloody brilliant day to be an Albion fan.

Looking down the list of confirmed Legends, the only two I would have liked to see who aren't there would be Stuart Storer and Danny Cullip, but you can't have it all. Full marks to the organising committee for arranging all the names that they have got. :)

Knee replacements actually - and it has been a success - so much so that a month or so ago he confirmed to me that he intended to play for the full match!!

Don;t also forget that he is a "soccer" coach in the US by profession now - so is likely to have retained at least a little of his legendary talents

By the way, he is now in the country - spoke to him a little while ago, and he is well looking forward to tomorrow.

With regards to advancing years, anoraks from the past may also realise that today is his birthday as well:birthday:

We tried to get both, Stuart was away and Danny could not get permission unfortunately -- Danny was well keen as well, he has kept in regular touch over the past two years indicating his desire to play :(

I had imagined that Danny would be keen, just a shame that he couldn't get the permission necessary.

Should be a bloody good day though, so lets focus on the positives of it all. :)

Anyone else think the Legends match is a little top heavy. Most players seem to be attackers or attack minded.

Only two or three defenders. Also who's going to be the other goalie?

I have to admit that is a fair point, and is one that has preyed on my mind a little -- but it hasn't given me too many sleeepless night

Still the only player personally I think is an Albion Legend.

Legend is bandied about so much these days and very few people can be ragarded as such. Wardy is one of them.

Sadly i only caught the tail end of Wardy as an Albion player but he is rightly hailed as a legend.

As is Robert Lester Zamora. I really really hope that BZ can play. The idea of Wardy & the bobster playing together ( Does anyone have a time machine ??) is one that fills me with great joy
