I heard that some of the South stand are going to throw picnic blankets, flasks of cocoa and hearing aids at opposition players next Saturday.

So what he threw the ball over the keepers head and then the keeper got a bit of stick?
Family stand or what

They made him look a fool in front of thousands of people when he is tryin to concentrate on his professional job. Fair enough - it can be funny. But what is the complaint when he responds ?

Exactly. Its the "oh-my-god how dare he react to us?" sanctimonious bullshit that annoys me. Banter with the opposition goalkeeper is all part of the fun, but throwing coins at him, spitting at him, then people coming on here describing him as a w@nker just because he responded in the same way 99% of people here would have if someone had done that to them, is not.

But your first post doesn't mention spitting or missile-throwing. You just said that some Albion fans were an embarrassment for abusing the 'keeper. I for one took that to be the 'wanker' chants (didn't see/hear any of the nasty stuff).

So, just to clear, we're agreed that tossing the ball over the 'keeper's head and wanker chants are acceptable banter, but spitting and throwing things is out of order?

Glad we got that cleared up. :)

I was at the game with two neutrals, both of whom were loving the - very funny - stick that he was copping - and they were joining in manfully and it was all very good fun.

That is, until stuff started getting thrown at him. "That's actually pretty f***ing pathetic" was one of their reaction. I'd totally go along with that.

As, for that matter, is this "ah well, that's all part and parcel" drivel.

At one point I thought I saw CHEWING GUM thrown at him. That is pwoper f***ing naughty that is; hats off to our top boy foot soldiers. Maybe they could graduate to other items of confectionary next, like liquorice rope or flying saucers.

Careful, that's the sort of talk that lead to the great Werthers Originals ruck of '95.

I think it was the level of disgust people showed towards him for reacting in a perfectly understandable way to provocation. 99% of people on this board would've reacted in the same way as he did under the same circumstances. People go to football matches nowadays under the belief that they can treat the players in any way they deem acceptable, but cry like babies if the players ever react. It seems to be the culture nowadays. I've paid my £20 so I can now behave in any manner I want and if you so much as tut in my direction I'll stamp my feet and scream like a spoilt toddler.

The support was excellent against brentford. If there was spitting and throwing that's out of order. In my day (yeah, getting on now) if a keeper reacted the crowd would cheer him for having the balls to react then the banter chants would start.

It's part of the terrace banter. Why are people getting stressed he reacted. Give and take people!

You really are an embarrassment.

For those who were not there;

The oppo keeper (Lewis Price) went to retrieve the ball from us after it went wide and some immature loser/hilarious gagster threw it miles over his head.

Price shook his head a bit and looked pretty unimpressed. For this HEINOUS CRIME (treating the person with the contempt he deserved) he then got abuse for the rest of the game.

Some people really are pathetic.

you really shouldn't be going to games pal !!!!
stay at home and play with yer scalectix or whatever else tickles your sad fancy.
its all part of the banter.
if you noticed at the end of the game, price bent over making gestures at his arse to us travelling fans.
all part of the fun IMO

its really no wonder so many of us don't bother with this site anymore!!!

you're an arsehole !!!!
