A few draws and we're fine. We need to make sure we set up in a way that just keeps us in each game, all the while we keep these games at 0-0 or even losing 1-0 we have a chance of getting something. Recently we've too easily suffered a 2-0 deficit and the game is done.

Quick update of the league table after the weekends games. Seems like a long wait until the Norwich game. Everton still in the brown stuff. Leeds less so after their fairly lucky win. The span of out finishing position increasingly looking like 11th - 16th.

Just feels like there’s this magnet every season that pulls us relentlessly towards 16th, no matter how good or bad the actual football is.

It does feel like that. I think the reality is that it is very very hard league. You look at the teams above us and the money they have spent and it's not hard to see why it is so difficult, and will probably take several more seasons, to be classed as a top 10 team.

Bloom's met all the targets he's set for the club so far. I think the regular top ten aspiration will be a step too far, for the reasons you state.
We'll see.

£50, because they're worth it. 38 or below, I pay; 39 or above, you pay

Yes! To be clear, I think we will get more but happy to dib in for charity for the fun of it! But it should be 41 or above and I pay, as the tracker is predicting 40.

We will get there, but it might take longer than a lot of our fans want!

Top 10 is becoming more difficult by the season. The spending of teams like City, Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal & now Newcastle will always dwarf us. & for these teams a bad season is finishing 6th or 7th instead of in the Champions League places. You then have the next batch of teams (West Ham, Villa, Leicester, Everton, and maybe Wolves) who arent on the same level as them but still considerably outrank us in terms of spending power. That's potentially 12 teams right there that we cannot compete with in terms of spending, and yes money spent doesnt always equate to points on the board but a lot of the time is does. So for us our hopes of a top 10 finish rely on some of these teams having a freak bad season, or some very unwise spending like Everton this year, and for us to also have a blinder of a season. You also then have 3 or 4 other teams with the same capabilities as us who have the same ambitions. Top 10 is not impossible but its getting that way. One day I hope we make it but its getting ****ing tough...

Think we'll be safe (just) on 33 points this year. Obviously hoping for a few more, but with the bottom 3 as it is I'd be surprised if we were overtaken by any of them even if we failed (in the unlikely event) of getting another point. On the beach already.

BBoardroom see the PL as a four division set up. Top 4 for CL places (unobtainable). Next 3 for European places. Middle 9 and bottom 4 i.e. finish top of bottom 4 being the first objective. Top end of middle 9 is the next step. Still massively hard for #teamslikebrighton.

That is the brutal reality. 10 - 12 wins, 10 - 14 draws, 15 - 20 defeats. That's what you are looking for as a decent out of that bottom 4 league.

29 games played, half the league has 8 wins or less. 10 teams all suffering at different points in the season runs without a win. That's a 25% win rate or less for half the league.

We can throw our toys out of the pram etc. but we're 3 pts off 9th with 9 games to go, 11 pts above 18th.

And it doesn’t help if you can’t score in a brothel

I remember posting when we first got promoted saying that I feared the reality of the Premier League was going to be very hard. It is one of the reasons I started this thread. It's tough.

A good season for most can be measured by you winning less than one in three games. That says it all.

Face it, we had Tony’s top 10 dream in our hands. We let it slip by finally signing a striker but once again loaning him out, and selling our most in-form defender to the beheaders. We were that close. We blew it.

All we need to do now to repeat our previous seasons is to over-respect Norwich, like we did Burnley at home . Come on Potter, you can do it! ;-)

Two points dropped. We can't score. We may never score again. Certainly not at home. Thank goodness we are away from home for the next 3 games.
