The real problem is we've got not pedigree in our managers and coaches.

That's obvious when Southgate's successors are the likes of Potter or Howe. What have they ever achieved as a player or coach?

We will always come up short against the big teams in Europe who have a wealth of talent in management and coaches.

He's still many many levels below the quality required to compete against top European coaches.
Maybe but still miles ahead from Southgate he is f***ing so far from it it's amazing he's shocking and Kane what a loser.

Exactly - on paper there is absolutely no way we should've been so embarrassingly bad tonight.
It's the difference between a well-managed team with an attacking positive approach and flexibility that can seamlessly swap players in and out.

And England.

Irrespective of this, England give the ball away too much which is basic and nothing to do with how you set up. The players have to take some responsibility.
Giving the ball away tonight, was largely down to not having the out ball available.. Kane simply nullified any potential forward momentum with his very static approach.... Also, Rice simply refused to look to push forward with any imagination that you might expect from a £100m player... he needs to go along with Kane and Southgate.... Mainoo flattered too...tactics were non existent...we were set up to fail against a very mobile opposition.

This is what I mean when players have to take responsibility. I’m not convinced Southgate told Kane to be a statue and Rice to not bother looking forward. Not directly or explicitly anyway…maybe it’s his dull negative demeanor and vibes which makes players play like this.

International managers don't tend to be top level coaches
That's true sometimes. Fuente is an example. Had a Southgate style journey. 50% is player respect. Which Southgate was the best at. No reason why England cannot promote from within. But it does need someone more attack orientated with those players.

International managers don't really coach players. They just set them up and select them. You can't do a lot with players you only have for ten days every three months.

No shame in losing to this Spain side. That said it’s beyond obvious that he’s a rigid, cautious manager and totally out of depth tactically. Even against modest opposition he’s been fortunate that key players had decisive moments that enabled him to mask his shortcomings. Forget about today, it’s constantly being outthought and barely scraping past vastly inferior teams that should finish him off.

Missed opportunity AGAIN, simply when equalised we should of gone for it more , Southgate played it safe , may laugh but think murinho is the right for the job (won’t get it )

I was discussing this with @Bozza during the match. How much of our retreat after we equalised is down to the manager and how much is on the players themselves?

Nice. Now go through our team?
Pickford - an average keeper

Walker - a 34 year old who is immense but past his best

Stones - always the second best of the 2 Man City CBs, great in his Libero role, England don't use it though.

Guehi - error prone

Shaw - had a great game but his first start since February, never a top top player but good enough.

Rice - top CM who has been out of form.

Mainoo - youngster who is very promising but very inexperienced.

Bellingham - world class but fatigued and needs surgery on his shoulder

Foden - PL POTY, yet to show he can do it when not surrounded by Man City players

Saka - best English player at the tournament, great player, not world class

Kane - world class striker who has never won anything and was clearly injured.

What's the plans for haters (if we win) and have the open top bus parade?

I assume you'll boo Southgate and throw objects at him whilst holding the trophy aloft?
If it helps, we can still make you a trophy / Southgate effigy out of silver foil and you can take it up to Devil's Dyke on the open top bus.
