Er.... so is Mr Adams just unlucky this season?
Are you saying that (managerial newbie) Dean Wilkins' jammy season got his side 7th despite disputes with the board/contracts and no actual money to spend, .....umm...... while Adams with his Championship draftees, inc. Robbie Savage, and his long managerial experience in every division - has a HEX against him with these results?

I've heard it said that league 1 has improved that much this season that it's surpassed modest BHA capabilities - so your view of things must show there's a different brand of LSD going around.

I think you've added 2 and 2 and got 5 !!! At no point have I said Adams has been unlucky, indeed I haven't even said he's got it right ( he clearly hasn't ). What I HAVE said is that I want him to be given a whole season to prove himself. There are too many people who expect everything NOW - no doubt the same people who have brought everything on cedit. Building a team and producing a stable squad takes time - at the very least EVERY manager should be given this required time.

It is my opinion, and clearly I'm the only one who shares it, that Wilkins was lucky last season - I really think his squad would have struggled this season. It's quite ironic how the posts during Wilkins era where complaints about him using too many youth players and not having the contacts to get in experienced players. MA can get the experianced players but would appear not to have much thought for using the youth players. Yet people still complain ( I can't be bothered to check if it's the same people who complained about Wilkins youth policy but I'm sure it included our resident depresive WW ! ).

I've said it numerous times, and will say it again and will continue to say it until the end of the season - give Adams the WHOLE season. If we get relegated then feel free to slate me but until then just get behind the team, manager and board.

What so you think that he wouldn't have got us higher than Micky - at least the players looked like they wanted to play for Dean

You can't have gone to many games last season then - they were the most boring performances I have seen for a long time. Even worse than the really bad performances at Gillingham because then we did have shit players - the players now or last season rather were better and therefore I expected better.
Agreed this season has been mainly shite as well but you simply cannot defend Dean Wilkins by saying that the players "wanted to play for him" - the players looked bored and served up boring football.
Oh no I forgot you are the Dean Wilkins apologist so nothing he ever did could possibly go wrong - get over it for Gawd's sake - he ain't coming back so learn to live with what we've got now. Knight is not the first chairman to make a mistake in getting in a manager who hasn't done as well as he expected, Adams is not the first manager who hasn't done as well as we expected, we aren't the first set of football fans to be fed up with performances but going on about whatever you in your blinkered way saw in Dean Wilkins ain't going to change jack. Wilkins was not a good manager and at the moment Adams is not a good manager either but Adams holds the reins at the moment so Dean Wilkins cannot do anything.

We really can't afford to get relegated this year. The preservation of Adams' ego is not that important.

for goodness sake stop going on about Dean, it wa unfortunate that he has gone but he's gone and he isn't comming back. What's done is done and there's no point going on about it.

Err ... why exactly not ?

Er...perhaps because no one individual is bigger or more important than the club itself. And that includes Micky Adams.

I'm surprised you had to ask the question.

Agreed but that doesn't explain why we can't afford to be relegagated.

We often hear how we cannot break even playing at Withdean getting crowds of 6,000 plus. If we went down we would be losing even more people = even more cash.

I don't think for a second Knight et al have got us in a position where relegation would seriously threaten our financial future. But it certainly would be a big problem.

It might cause some belt tightening but I don't think it would be the end of the world.

I guess it depends on how well we do in the league below and ticket pricing.

If tickets are cheaper and we are at the top of the league the club may actually get better gates.

The problem would be if we went down and started badly. Gates of 3,000-4,000 on a regular basis would certainly put a huge financial strain on the board.

........not to mention how the financial institutions would feel about loaning oodles of millions for a new stadium, to a club with 3-4000 supporters.

Perhaps my memory is playing tricks with me, but two seasons ago I seem to remember us really struggling in this division, and only winning five games at home.

I can't remember who the manager was though, but I am sure someone will remind me.
