My dear friend, I hate to tell you this and it will most definitely come as a shocker, but Chelsea at their very worst and in the gutter, still have 100x the appeal of a Brighton at their very best.

Asking a player if they would trade Brighton for Chelsea, is liking asking a chef if they would trade working at their local chippy for a 5 star restaurant. The answer would be swift and easy
I can think of two professional footballers that chose Brighton over Chelsea recently so that’s not true and several more that wanted away. But they are professional footballers and know what they are talking about unlike keyboard warriors that have probably never kicked a ball.

Bloom is playing a somewhat dangerous game though as preventing an elite young player from moving on will set alarm bells off when signing future prospects. Agents and players will be aware of the Caicedo situation and in future may well be reticent to sign for Brighton, or at least ensure a suitable release fee and/or wage improvement is in the contract.
We have always said that players can leave to play at a higher level and further their career. Teams that finish below us and are not playing in Europe is not a higher level.

The thing is, you are correct.

Chelsea are going to be a more attractive proposition in the long term. Most likely. We've had a great season but who knows if we'll repeat it (or better it) this season coming.

That said - there are ways to make your point and acting like a royal prick on the message board of a club you have no affiliation with isn't the way to do it.

So, free advice: stop being a prick.

Interesting, Lamptey and Gilmour both decided Brighton were a better option having both turned down a new contract with Chelsea. Colwell as well wanted to come but Chelsea have chucked a load of dosh his way to stay.

The only appeal you have is being able to offer life-changing amounts of money. Your reputation is in tatters and your trajectory is downwards, hopefully soon to be of a similar level as when I was growing up. You know, before the shady Russian billionaire showed up.

Feel free to come back to try and reiterate your point after we most likely take another 6 points off you this season.

Regardless of how he becomes a fan, at least he will be one 🤷‍♂️
Yes pictures of him wearing his brand new Chelsea scarf are so endearing.

I suppose a lot of this will depend on Caicedo's attitude - if he stays, knuckles down and commits himself to the cause then Bloom is right to play hard ball. If he causes a stink then Albion could have a problem on their hands, and De Zerbi has already shown, with Sanchez, he's not adept at handling the ego of a disgruntled player.
Handled it quite well I think. Played a keeper who he trusts, then we've gone out and bought a new one. Sorted.

Agents and players will be aware of the Caicedo situation and in future may well be reticent to sign for Brighton, or at least ensure a suitable release fee and/or wage improvement is in the contract. The modus operandi has thus far been to acquire some of the best young talent under the promise of first team playing time and a big move. Are we seeing a seismic shift in Brighton's strategy, or is Bloom simply seeking to extract maximum value from this deal? I'd wager the latter.
Not really - if the ambition is realised (which seems to be a regular top 10 team, with european football thrown in here and there) - why would future prospects not want to come here? It may not be long before we're not seen as a stepping stone but a destination. Who knows.

And it's fair if Bloom values Caicedo at.100m because its his asset and he can value it however he likes. I'm just saying his not worth 100m and I wouldn't want Chelsea to spend that
Chelsea set the market for £100m + midfielders with Enzo so in a round about way your club screwed up the Caicedo deal all by yourselves. If you hadn’t blown £100m + on Enzo Rice and Caicedo go for £80m.
He is a better player than Rice £109m. It’s ridiculous to even think we would sell for under a £100m.

😂 Just because you may routinely go to football matches, it doesn't make you a better supporter than me or anybody who doesn't routinely go. Some of us have busy lives and stuff to actually do besides visiting the grounds of football teams
Regardless of how he becomes a fan, at least he will be one 🤷‍♂️
so what made you choose Chelsea ? As I’m sure it’s not because you came from the area.

Well, every player dreams of playing in Round 2 of the EFL Cup and that's something we just can't offer this season. ;)

I'm not being a prick, but when I see severely delusional takes, i will call it out.

Trying to pretend that Chelsea isn't an upgrade on Brighton in every single which way regardless of current form is laughable. The reality is Chelsea is a step up from Brighton in both the near and distant future and to argue otherwise is insane.

Now, I understand that this is a Brighton board, so it will naturally have bias and delusional takes in Brighton's favour, just like any club forum would, but some of the takes here are asinine and possess no reality whatsoever.

Those 2 footballers chose Brighton, because one's path was blocked by a much better player, and the other was surplus to requirements and would've never had made it at our club.

Who are the others who wanted away, tho?

Speaking of divorced from reality...

At least I did notice you chose both 'near' and 'distant' but not the present moment, so you are at least moving towards an acceptance of the current reality.

Deluded.
Cucurella would have been better off if he had stayed at Brighton.
It seemed fairly obvious that Colwill would have been very happy to stay at Brighton.
If Caicedo stays with us and carries on making good progress, those interested would probably be more numerous than just Chelsea.
Players have their own development and longer term future to think of - or at least sensible ones are not just pulled in by the big city lights.

Always a laughable argument, one that gets written out so many times. There's a lot of young talent out there all around the world, and the ones who decide not to sign with an upwardly mobile club in the top half of the best and richest league in the world, with European football, brilliant facilities and pathways, a succession of progressive coaches and players bettering themselves month after month, year after year - well, good luck to them.

The ones who chose Brighton, they're doing alright
