We could sack half a dozen managers this season, but it would still in the end come down to having a defence that is far too easy to waltz through. FDM gets very little in the way of protection from his defence and if he wasn't such a superb reflex keeper we'd be shipping goals at aan even greater rate than we already are. Time to get shot of the remaining youth team graduates - ALL of them - and bring in some hardened pros?

I was hoping that, having had the whole pre-season to stamp his authority on the club, never mind bringing more of his own players in, there would be a significant improvement on last season. On the basis of the four games I have seen this season, that improvement just isn't there.
- there is a lack of discipline on the pitch, viz sendings off in the past two matches. Whing being booked seconds after the referee had spoken to him and lucky to avoid a red last night;
- the team, whoever is chosen, seems unable to retain its shape
- too much dependence on the long-ball; bad enough if you have players who can play a reasonable long-ball, an absolute waste of time if you don't.
- a lack of complete match fitness - too many errors in the last 10 minutes, not costly as such, but symptomatic.

That is what I am basing my judgement of Slade on. I am sorry, but he just has not impressed so far, leaving aside judgement in starting line-up.

I agree. Add to that our dreadful free kicks (that 3 man wall farce), corners (near post when Tunnicliffe is at far post) and long throws (to the opponents tallest player). Completely agree about lack of fitness, especially our slow back 4.
