The time for Capello to go was about thirty seconds BEFORE he was appointed.

And before anyone gets annoyed with that opinion be aware I'm a Scotland Fan.

We need a ENGLISH manager who has done it at the HIGEST level. Like GUS Poyet. England, get on the the Gus bus and we might win somthing.

Its opinions, i did say that capello is not completely blameless, but players have to try better than that, my point was not to blame the manager for everything because players have to take responsibilty for their actions too. Rooney's comments were utterly disgraceful, send him home.

Oh, and all that bullshit naff media talk......'we will do it for the troops' blah blah blah.....that and the media wrapped around those load of losers are just all pathetic.....the same reasons i do not buy newspapers beacuse of all of the crap that surrounds our false sense of nationality

Frustrated by Capello's stubborness to change from 4-4-2, and continue playing a big lump up front, but don't believe changing a manager will change anything.

This really is down to the players, and any manager will continue to pick the same set of players anyway.

Ericksson had a great track record at club level but was hounded out because we did not want a foreigner in charge.

Next up was the best English manager available at the time in McClaren. He was too close to the players apparantly. Stevie G this and JT that etc.

Up next a manager with a brilliant track record, but complete opposite to McClaren, aloof, distant from the players, and now apparently he is useless.

Surely the common factor over the last 3 world cups is the failure of the big name players to perform.

Dont be stupid. Whilst both England and Cappello looked worryingly short of idea's tonight and Im gutted that we didnt win we still could win the world cup. When we get knocked out however he should get sacked and bollocks to paying the rest of his contract. He was hired to win England the world cup, if he doesn't do that his performance has not been to standard and he should be fired. Who else still gets paid after being sacked for doing a shit job???

Don't we have ideas above our station though? In the last decade, we've been rated between about 5 to 10 in the world, which suggests that our natural level is the quarter finals - which we've achieved. It's true that a good manager could get players playing above themselves but that must be hard to do when the manager doesn't have the players full time.

Fair point, and a quarter final is probably the best we can hope for again.

I do think that the last world cup was wide open, and that really was a missed oppotunity. The French & Italians reached the final with pretty poor sides.

It is also the same for all international managers, in that they only have their players for a limited period.

What are you going on about........one minute you say 'we could still win the World Cup'...and in the next instance you say 'when we get knocked out he should get the sack'........for fucks sake !!!!!

It's the f***ing manager's job to take his sqaud and make them into a team. For £5 million, I'm happy to do the job, I may well be shit, but I would be pushed to be any worse than the Eytie wanker we have now!
