And both teams missed one by balloning over the top. All that seperated the teams tonight was a good save by the Portugese keeper from Vassells penalty. How can we balme Beckham for it ???

Give it up mate, Beckham did not perform like an International player in any of the games and missed two penalties out of two. How shit does he have to be before you can see it.

I missed the game and only saw the penalty shoot out but Bekham has guided us to 2 wins this tournament, and a f***ing unlucky defeat to the French. He got us to Euro 2004 by that free kick against Greece and yes I think he is a good leader.

I think you will find that was to get to the 2002 World Cup.

He has been poor throughout the tournament, he is no way near the Beckham that drew us that game against Greece singlehandedly two years ago

Trouble is we all remember the buzz you used to get when Beckham got the ball in an England game. We remember those amazing free kicks that were dead certs to get at least a save out of the keeper. We remember the constant clapping and encouragement of other players.

We saw none of that tonight.

Something is wrong.

What the hell do they do to players at real?
Raul is lazy as is figo, ronaldo and now beckham.

gary neville campbell and cole were the only english players who played from the start that were not shattered

Beckham has been shit in all 4 games-he hasn't looked interested and looked totally lacking in skill except for the odd free kick.

It's about time he re-focused on his football instead of his f***ing advertising earnings-tosser. His total lack of effort these last 4 games has really pissed me off.

The portugese manager showed he wasn't afaid to pull off a once great player in Figo, Sven should have done the same and taken off Beckham.

I stand out on a limb here and would never leave out Beckham IMHO

And he's contributed what in the last 4 games? There should be no sentiment in football. He has been useless in this tournament and has the look of a haunted man whose thoughts are elsewhere. Drop him unless he shows a dramatic change in form.

But he will be good again.

You cannot be on top of your game all the time - if this is the sentiment Owen needs to go as well surely.

FFS we are well pi$$ed off about losing but this is going to far.

Oh and on the theme more locally that lazy good for nothing git Leon Knight (who scored the penalty to put us in the The "Championship") should go as well.

Beckham should be replaced as captain of England and should never have been allowed to take a penalty. He is obviously better in the bedroom than he is on the pitch!

Time for a new coach as well. Sven never looks as though he's interested in the game. When we concede a goal, is he on the touchline yelling? NEVER! No interest.

What, you mean like Kevin Keegan????

Controversial maybe but not once during this game did i see Beckham encouraging the lads, keeping the spirits up or performing normal captain duties, he seems to be his own man now and not a team player... Sol Campbell is a f***ing winner, give him the captains armband, he'll get the lads going.

Oh yeah, and i never want to see Beckham take another penalty for England, fair enough the spot was dodgy BUT CHECK IT FIRST!!!

totally agree. he....... oh forget it. yep your right. :nono:

OK then Beach Hut and CAFC Matt, how many games does Beckham get to play where he contributes close to nothing before you consider dropping and changing the captain? I thought a captain was supposed to lead by example and Beckham has been a weak link throughout the tournament.

I'm not saying he won't come good again, just that on his current form he isn't worth his place.

owen has at least set up a few and now even scored in this tournament. beckham was in the team as a leader and a great crosser of the ball. oh and yes he can score a few.
in this tournament he has not crossed 1 good ball. been far too quiet to lead a team. and has not scored a goal. if you do not do this when we need him to do it most (in a tournament) then when is he gonna do it?
