Controversial maybe but not once during this game did i see Beckham encouraging the lads, keeping the spirits up or performing normal captain duties, he seems to be his own man now and not a team player... Sol Campbell is a f***ing winner, give him the captains armband, he'll get the lads going.

Oh yeah, and i never want to see Beckham take another penalty for England, fair enough the spot was dodgy BUT CHECK IT FIRST!!!

Beckham has been shit all through. He shouldn't even be in the team on those performances. No drive, no leadership, no passion.

Maybe he was caught short & wanted to go to the Loos.

Beckham has been a shadow of his former self for some while now. If only he spent as much energy on his football as his private life..

This is soo harsh and out of order. Drop Beckham :nono:

IMO he is a good captain and the current best bloke for the job. Ok ok he missed two penalties but todays the penatly spot was a f***ing isgrace and the portugse should be f***ing shot for it. Staging a internaitonal tournament with that

IMO Beckham should stay as captain and the team remain the same.

Think Beckhams problem comes from being at Real, he is surrounded by brilliant players but doesn't speak their language, he has probably got used to going through a game without talking to anyone.

Think you might be right on this one, he has looked jaded throughout the tournament, perhaps it is time to try another captain and just let him carry on as a player if his form allows. One thing I would say in David's favour is that he comes across far better during interviews, at least he talks a good game.

Come on everyone you cannot blame him alone.

We had a munter of a referee - these things happen

Are you telling me he is more of a leader and a winner than Sol Campbell?...

If the answer is yes then i suggest you watch the performance of the two of them during the tournament again then get back to me with the correct answer.

Time for a new coach as well. Sven never looks as though he's interested in the game. When we concede a goal, is he on the touchline yelling? NEVER! No interest.

Here, here Trigger. Beckham was very poor tonight.

We scored and sat on the lead. You can't do that at this level. France and now Portugal (with the ref's help) have proved it. We have only ourselves to blame, we did not look interested in increasing the lead and just are not good enough to win International competitions.

Beckham was also shit throughout the tournament and must take some of the blame as there was a complete lack of leadership throughout.

We didn't play particularly well either. I was saying to my mate at half time that I would be much more comfortable if it was the Albion that were playing like that as opposed to England 'cos we've played that way for years whereas England haven't.

(I'm not suggesting that that Albion could beat Portugal btw)

I missed the game and only saw the penalty shoot out but Bekham has guided us to 2 wins this tournament, and a f***ing unlucky defeat to the French. He got us to Euro 2004 by that free kick against Greece and yes I think he is a good leader. He has the respect of the dressing room.

Besides how can you expect him to play magnificently when you play him out of posistion??

I disagree with this - he is a very good captain and we have a good manager.

What sort of football would we be playing with Keegan in charge ?

Lampard never had a kick untill he scored tonight. To many players did not perform and looked tired but if it wasn't for the wank pot of a ref we would have won it.

And both teams missed one by balloning over the top. All that seperated the teams tonight was a good save by the Portugese keeper from Vassells penalty. How can we balme Beckham for it ???
