Me too.

Also, what I’d add is the failure to identify a priority and build a strategy to deliver on it.

If the priority is health, why have we had 55,000 deaths, more than any other European country?

If the priority is the economy, why are we on track for an 11.3% contraction this year, also worse than almost every other country out there?

there hasnt been a clear priority, they've tried to sail through the middle and got stuff wrong. although its not that we have worst records by a significant margin to suggests its completely wrong. policy is roughly the same as other countries with roughly the same results. people talk as if a week difference on lockdown or a lighter middle tier will dramatically change outcome. it will alter small % here or there.

question for any one is would they have prioritised health or economy, accepting the consequences for the other? if there are countries that have done so well, what have they done better, can we emulate that?

East and West Sussex, and Brighton and Hove High (tier 2) Case rates in Sussex are at 120 per 100,000 with a total positivity of 4.5%. However, the trend is increasing in several areas. NHS admissions have been fairly stable in the last month but there is increasing occupancy in units treating more serious cases.

NHS admissions stable as in barely any ! Just thought would correct that.

Reckon end of Jan earliest chance we will go to tier 1 way its planned out.

Sadiq Khan just said he doesn’t expect London to come out of Tier 2 till Vacicne

I think that’s going to be the same everywhere

For those singletons out there apparently if you have a 'Social Bubble' with one other single householder you can go out for a meal together.

It's all a load of bollocks anyway, we're in a lockdown now apparently, roads are busier than ever, most people don't give a shit, the only noticable difference to anything is the pubs are shut.

It's cause and effect - people are driving around looking for a pub that's open.

This weeks report will be out tomorrow for the week ending today, but just to compare, I will update my post to see if that holds true.

Sadly agree.

Deaths will go up because its winter and cold. Like they always do. Cue panic and over analysis from the media. Wheel out Ferguson again to tell us we're all going to die if we open the front door.

Covid won't help obviously but I'm not sure I see much difference at this time of year between this and the flu. I'm not sure we will see many excess deaths but if we do, it will be because of consequences of Covid through lack of treatments in other illnesses rather than Cold itself. Data will be misused.

Let's just all be sensible.

fair point. so do you believe we should all stay in lockdown so everyone has those same outcomes? thats what i was commenting on, the views that tiers arent fair, not the difficulties businesses are facing.

But you trotted out the "oh it's OK, they're on furlough" line (as have so many lazy jounalists) which is totally untrue for millions of small businesses. Many of whom are facing genuine ruin.

It's frustrating to read people saying that when you see the damage being done first hand and on a daily basis, and the lack of genuine support for so many.

To me this just smacks of normalising a world where we get used to a loss of freedom for the long term. Already chat about masks being in play through all of 2021. WTF if we have a vaccine that works? Laying the ground for imposed restrictions in the name of climate change to follow (load of hints from global leaders this will happen) and the ushering in of a new society model that we will all be controlled by for the long term. At what point are we going to say enough is enough?

I totally agree. How many people still cannot smell a Rat baffles me

i do get that. its also frustrating that people use those business struggling, in particular pubs, to project other points. lots of people are harrumphing its not fair, or simply dont want any lockdown.

I think people can be excused harrumphing. I liken this thread to seeing the Albion being humped 3-0 and the immediate aftermath where everyone and everything is shit. People are emotional rather than rational. Lockdown was supposed to end next week and we find out restrictions are worse than it was before we went in which people were hoping would not be the case.

I got home tonight and the wife is pissed off, the kids are pissed off (no birthday sleepover) and even the dog is getting on my tits. If people vent on this thread all well and good. After all, it's not like we can go down the pub and do it.

60k people dead and the radio’s full of twats complaining they can’t go to a pub I mean really is it that big of a deal. Most of the pubs were generally dead before lockdown.
