I'm getting a bit fed up with people saying away members put no money into the club.
I don't have a season ticket this season (the 1st time I haven't had one at Withdean) but I still put money into the club. Non-STH's spend money in the club shop and go to home games too.
The thing that rightly annoys everyone is away members who don't attend matches. So a distinction needs to be made between away members who do or do not go to games.
The club have even made this sort of distinction by giving those who went to Millwall priority. They could have gone further and given priority to those buying Bristol City away JPT tickets at the same time.
I think a possible route to take is a credit system. Season Ticket holders pay for 23 tickets. So they start on 23. Away members on 0. For every additional game you go to you get 1 credit.
This way, people like me, who have been to 15 of 18 home games and say, 8 away games have 23 credits. With a 23 point head start I don't see how STH's could really complain. And of course STH's who go away from home as well are laughing.
Priority should go to people who go to games and support the club.
Now I know one problem is that you may not always get a stub at away games. One possible solution is that if you pay £5 at the club shop for an away game 'voucher' (if its not all ticket) you get £5 off the pay on the gate price when you hand over your voucher.
Some people like to leave it to the last minute to decide whether or not to go. Well usually you'll get a ticket stub, if not, maybe proof of travel could be sent to the club (train ticket etc). If that doesn't work out, tough, you left it too late to get your attendance on record (1 match probably wont make a huge difference anyway).
Incidently I'd have 22 of 32 possible credits currently. So I'd be behind a STH in priority but probably still stand a good chance of getting a ticket. If I misssed out at least I'd know someone who has been to more games than me is going, rather than someone who goes once every five years.
Thoughts?
