Ticket Loyalty System Reform

The ticket loyalty system was designed to give those who put the effort in and went to games priority when it comes to bigger games, that are likley to sell out. But it doesnt work when they pick a figure out the air like 50 for the Saints game. A friend of mine has 110 loyalty points and he didn't manage to get a ticket because they'd sold out by the time he managed to get online.

It needs to change so that I counts down in multiples of 10. Giving each amount of loyalty point holders a day to decide until they run out.

If you dont have enough......go to more games!

Simples.

Seems to be working fine as a loyalty scheme , remember this the first year of operation , would you like a JCL next season to get a ticket to a big game before you had first dibs ?

Not really perhaps if you friend knew he could not get on-line at that time he could have asked a friend instead, simples part is planning

How did the planning go for you getting West Ham tickets?

It's working really well at the moment I think. Each window of opportunity for each group is perfect.

If they couldn't get their arse into gear to get Saints tickets (3500), they better start organising themselves now if they want to go to Palace (2500 tickets)

A friend of mine bought one online using my account in the general sale as I have above 50 points, so they WERE available, not the clubs fault you were too slow surely?

Very well as you know however what was never admitted by the club was the delay in one post bag getting from Withdean to the ticket office.

Nice try to dig up dirt but actually the reason we now have the loyalty was due to a lot of fans raising many issues about the previous system which meant £10 and all in for life, the new system works perfectly well now and caters for those that have paid up front or committed to pay for season tickets.

Next dig ?

There are only so many levels of granularity that are practically possible and, let's be honest, the club seem to be struggling to even comply with these themselves with Saints phase 1 opening up nearly a day late, and phase 2 opening up 10 hours early unannounced.

Ultimately, the following levels feel about right...

1. Lots and lots of points - Withdean S/T + Amex S/T + some other games.
2. Lots of points - Amex S/T + some other games
3. Quite a lot of points - Amex S/T
4. Some points - No Amex S/T but bought other games
5. Few/no points - the dregs

...assuming that, as is the case, 'loyalty' really means 'gives cash to the club' but, at each stage, trying to ensure that those who also make an effort to get to away games have priority over those who don't.

Just think it's a bit rich that the person responsible for one of the biggest moan ups in NSC history is having a pop at someone for doing essentially the same thing. That's all......

There is nothing rich about it at all as (and it was not just me) the West Ham debacle was a complete joke where anyone who paid £10 had the same purchasing rights as those that paid annually in advance for all home games. Thankfully the club saw sense and realised things had to change which they have to reward loyal fans that put money into the club up front.

And before you ask I did actually go to the game, those without tickets will probably get one as several people end up not going and sell them.

No argument what so ever! The club communicated this message the day after the Birmingham game, a good 8 days ago.
I'm sorry, like others have said before your mate is'nt very organised if he can't get himself on the computer on the right day.
I think the club got the loyalty points and the deadlines spot on for this fixture.

So it should be reformed because 1 person didn't get themselves organised to get online earlier?

I agree with your levels, and that is how the club should do it, but they don't. They seem to just pick a random number of loyalty points out the air each time and use that, rather than any actual thought behind who should be first (or actually, second) in the queue.

What I want to know is, are the points going to be carried over to next season, or will they start from scratch again?

The number of levels should be pre-determined and then the points threshold for each should increment as the season progresses.

On your second question, I know the club had not made a decision on this the last time I asked - they wanted to see how this year's system panned out before making a decision, and I think that's the right approach.

They club should take heed of all those that were STHs at Withdean or alternatively carry forward the points each year.

Either way the system will probably be invoked only around 5 times a season maximum in my view.

Is Southampton the first time ? If so it will only be for CPFC, West Ham and if we get a juicy FA Cup draw.

I don't understand why they haven't done this. Just do the same 4 levels of loyalty points each time, and seperate the purchase window by two or three days.

At what point do they stop this though? There has to come a point where the fact you were a season ticket holder a few years ago doesn't count anymore. Just like the way having been a STH at Gillingham means nothing now.

Yes I can see that actually as it would become somewhat old hat after a while.

Does anyone know if other clubs carry forward points per season ?
