The voucher code situation is ridiculous and surely needs addressing. Add a quid to the match ticket, refundable on a match by match basis to all those arriving by bike or to any ticket holder within a mile of the ground (where the assumption is that they will walk). Not ideal and as it is possibly open to abuse, but better than the current situation.

I take his point about parking though.

Whenever you go to away games and dont use PT you ( I) set the sat nav to the ground and then circle around until you find a spot to park...normally a local industrial estate that has chargable parking ( Millwall, Watford etc etc) or ina street nearby and take your chances.

I do think that there shoudl be something on the away ticket about lack of any kind of parking around the area...and maybe have a P&R at say Braypool for away fans only...most of them I would have thought come from t'norf so turning left on teh a23 instead of right to mill Road would seem better and workable.

Blimey Dave, if you do this then I guess people really do do it. I don't believe in Sat Navs, so I always look on google earth / streetview before leaving.

The voucher issue is an interesting one. Talking to the P & R stewards they seem to always let away fans on without a voucher, which given the circumstances seems to be the most sensible approach.

However what does that say for those of us who forked out for vouchers. Home fans pay, away fans dont?

I must admit I've never done any research, ever when going to away games. If I'm driving and it's somewhere I haven't been before I follow Bozza's four steps (post #41). And in the days before sat nav you'd drive to the town and either look for the floodlight pylons or follow the crowds.

If it's somewhere I've been before I invariably try and go back to where I went the previous time (for both pubs and parking). Apart from train times (if applicable) I wouldn't dream of checking anything beforehand.

Withdean provided enough evidence that 'away fans' drive as close as they can to the ground then look to park. The Amex is no different except there are close to 2000 more visiting fans.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread-The Albion need to make it clear that there is no parking at the stadium. Martin Perry has been telling us for ages (way before The Amex opened) that the club's aim was to make Brighton games the first one people look for every season because of the 'whole matchday experience'. There will be loads not returning because of the transport issues and it's very easy to overcome-LET PEOPLE KNOW.

So many things about The Amex are fantastic-two important issues take the edge off of things: Transport/parking and long queues inside.

All that information comes with the ticket. But you can''t make people read what they have in front of them!.

Oh and where are these long queues of which you speak???? Not seen any at the stadium so far. Seen a couple at Brighton station but that's nothing to do with the club or the stadium.

Not tried to buy a pie before kick off or have a piss at half time then?

The information is clearly not getting through to visiting fans-which was the point I was trying to make.

This reminds me of something that happened to me while we were at Gillingham.

I can't remember who were playing that day, but they were northern. I was walking home from a kick-a-bout at Preston Park at about 2:30 when a car pulled up with a father and son who asked me which way the football ground was. I pointed north and explained that it was 50 miles away, they didn't seem to believe me and got quite angry when I told them I was quite sure that the ALbion played in Gillingham.

That was probably the club's fault as well

i get quite irritated by away fans saying they had "no idea" that they couldn't park at the ground........do some bloody research it really isn't hard

Agreed.

Surely everyone does a little bit of research before travelling to an away ground for the first time. It's not like anyone is going to drive to Brighton, and then slowly drive round the streets "looking for floodlights". So, once you've started researching it, do it properly.

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
There should be a minimum of 3 in a car for park and ride, the amount of people who turn up on there own is unbelievble.

:lolol: Did that really happen? Can you imagine not being aware of another football club (even, say Morecambe), having to play it's home matches 75 miles away?

Having said that, I saw traffic wardens in Coldean on Saturday issuing tickets like confetti - never, ever seen wardens in Coldean before.
Presumably they're only issuing tickets for those actually illegally parked (i.e. there aren't any "new" parking rules there are there?). If you're parked legally (most are) then there's no problem.

It did, I don't think it was even our first season there

We do tend to become a bit defensive don't we?

If we revisit this in twenty years I suspect we might see many of the same comments - on both sides of the argument.Parking (or the lack of) is a factor of the location and planning permission. Not the club's fault and something we will all learn to live with and to enjoy moaning about for many years to come. We will become known as the club whose ground is out in the sticks and can't be reached by car and some will hate us for it while others will travel into town and use public transport. This season it is all new and many will be caught out while in future years a few will know and others either wont be aware or will be but wont take any notice - internet or no internet - information (there was a good bit of info on the Forest site for their fans buying tickets as there is for all away sides) or no information - signs or no signs. I do think we need to provide more park and ride spaces and look at making it cash to park for everyone as long as it isn't overpriced relative to a train ticket.

Signage could be improved both approaching the stadium and round the ground but tbf I rarely look when I go to a new away ground, I just ask a copper or a steward and I've never had a problem anywhere - including my first visit to the Amex.

Food and drink are clearly still hit and miss and in fairness I don't think the caterers are getting it right quickly enough or consistently enough. It must be getting near time for the club to get them in for a stern chat.

Not enough toilets? That is entirely down to the club and really isn't forgiveable in a new build. I wonder if it will be improved by the planned works to fill the corners?

No comments on the padded seats? Shame on them! But pleasing that they get a good atmosphere in the South stand - it's probably a factor of the height of the west so they hear much more than someone sitting high in west who gets no noise "leaked" from the other stands

Nice, reminds me of the 2 disgruntled US tourists who were in front of me at the information desk at Gatwick asking the same person they had spoken to the previous day why she had sent them to Leeds in order to visit the Castle...
