The lack of road signs probably doesn't help. How hard can it be to stick a sign on the A23 just past the pylons saying something along the lines of 'NO PARKING AT FOOTBALL STADIUM, USE PARK AND RIDE'? That way anyone stupid enough not to research it before leaving won't drive all the way to Falmer. Also (and it's been a while since I used the trains so forgive me if this already exists) why not stick a HUGE sign up that say 'FALMER STADIUM TRAINS THIS WAY'

Good idea about the A23 but they don't even need to put up a sign - there's a socking great under-employed digital information board near the pylons already. They just need to make use of it. Probably cost £100k.

Something strange about this pie situation. I'm in the post east bit and at the end of the game they were overloaded with pies and the twice it was announced .... 'get your loverly pies, they're half price'

Nice to know its not just us in he WSL that cant get a pie after 2.15pm.
f*** me, can anyone get a pie!!!
Surely the club should have sorted this out by now. The staffing and food kiosks are badly letting the rest of the stadium down(massive queues, lack of stock, piss poor really)..... apart from the 10 minute queues to have a piss

Good grief, like everything in life you have to adjust slightly to get the best out of it, so like us you need to:
1) Time your run to the ground to get your pie in good time, ie before 14:00.
2) have your pee before the rushes, ie just before you go to your seat presumably just before the game, at the end of the half time break, I am always back by kick off.
3) Stay after the game for 30 mins, the queues are nearly all gone by 17:30.

Simples!

Couldn't the OP have actually told his family where their stand was and also that they couldn't park at the ground?

If it was my family coming from another part of the country I would have made a point of letting them know.

As to the main argument, they WERE robbed, pleasing as that was !
We certainly had a non-functioning midfield which gave them too much posession and our forwards virtually nothing by way of service to latch onto. I thought the forward line did well despite the lack of opportunities, I though the defence mostly had a decent game ( a few wayward passes from Reyes), but by christ our midfield is losing us control of games, and in this game against a v poor Forest team we should have dominated. WE NEED TWO DECENT BOX TO BOX CENTRAL MIDFIELDER TYPES IN JANUARY, else we will struggle right to the end of the season. Having said that, nice welcome 3 points, ya boo sucks to the Forest.

You need to read my original post. Where does it say my family drove to the ground?

Obviously I took my family to the away end -we travelled together - they then spoke to several Forest Fans who had driven to the ground looking for somewhere to park.

Coming down from the A23 there are no signs to the Mill Road Park and Ride - which is surely the best place for away fans to park. These fans then drove along the A27, to the ground, looking for somewhere to park.

Forest did not offer to sell them a travel voucher, or advise them that there is no parking there. Overtime, away fans will learn, but surely for this season, we should help advise away fans of the travel situation?

I can't recall ANY stadium that doesn't have signs directing away fans to the away end.

Except the Amex.

That's probably the reason all these fans are conditioned to not use their brains then. I don't think I've ever had to look for a sign, because I already know where the away end is.

Rather than put signs up at Falmer I think we should go the other way and take down signs at the other 91 clubs. Make the zombies think for themselves.

I'm not sure how the club is meant to help if fans buy their tickets from somewhere else.

The club is quite explicit on the website FAQ.

"Will there be any parking available at Sussex University (or another nearby car park) on a match-by-match basis?
No."

My sister, her husband and their daughter (all Forest fans) went to the game yesterday, and afterwards gave me their thoughts.

They were robbed. (I think we can all agree with that)

They had a local(ish) beer from Lincolnshire, and Harveys - impressed with both.

I had suggested they tried the pies - all sold before they got to the front of the queue.

Not enough male toilets.

View - good - they were fairly near he back of the away end - all away fans stood throughout the game.

Transport - poor - several fans had driven to the stadium, and had no idea you couldn't park there - these fans were then directed to the park and ride, and allowed on without travel vouchers.

Atmosphere - they thought it was really loud - I actually thought yesterday was the quietest game so far (not surprising considering the performance.

Signage - poor - fans arriving by tran had no idea where theaway fans were meant to go.

Value - at £24.00 they thought it was pretty good.

Stewards - welcoming and polite.

Overall - they were gutted about the result, impressed by the stadium, but thought we needed to sort out the transport issues.

As you have insider info, what about the following

1. We promised away fans pictures/videos of famous players - so I imagine Peter Ward would have been a good example, is this happening on some kind of interactive board. We also sort of promised away fans their own local beer - I believe this is dark stars responsibilty and will happen when the universal alingment is right.

2. Do they know we clap them when the away attendence is announced.

3. Where did they put our stadium in comparison to others.

4. Did they report the robbery and will it be added to the national crime figures, do they expect the police (FA) to catch them...

Good luck to them, if they keep playing like that they will at least be safe this season.

1. There is one screen showing pictures of past players.

2. Didn't ask.

3. Pretty high, when compared to other new grounds. (Better than Leicester, Derby - although seeing as they detest Derby they wouldn't say anything good about them or their ground!) They did say that it will obviously be better when the corners are filled in.

They too think they will get out of trouble, but are far from convinced with Cotterill.

No cannot believe I was often keen on Cotterill being our manager.

They should feel themselve lucky they get a guest Linconshire beer, would'nt mind a sniff of that on the WSL concourse. They had a great turn out and I love both grounds In Nottingham lets hope we can make some noise on the 24th of March next year and return to the scence of the crime to make it a double...

Maybe the away fans around them stood but it was the first time I've seen so many away fans sitting down most of the game from my view in the WSU. A large portion of them were sat down in the west side of the south stand.

you don't need to do a great deal of research though......in fact it'd take about 2 minutes and save you a hell of a lot of time upon your arrival

i think the club do more than enough.......not their fault at all......personally i think its the responsibility of the fan to check how they're getting to the ground, the club provide all the information anyone could need.........if people don't check the information it's not really their fault is it?

Rubbish! The vast majority of people that go to football aren't geeks and don't spend their lives glued to the internet. It's completely the clubs fault, they are the ones who have built a stadium with no parking.

The fact they are then not allowed to use the park and ride unless they've pre bought a travel voucher is even more ridiculous!

You don't need to 'spend their lives glued to the internet' like any of the fl clubs go on the official website click on the club, then click on travel and then away fans travel and it is all explained there. 2mins max.

Yes lets advertise away fans free travel on p&r ride and then suddenly you may get 18,500 'away' fans. I'm sure if a confused looking fan in the away strip asks at the p&r they'll get on.

Best thing to do would be to add a £1 onto the away ticket price and have a couple of travel vouchers on there tickets.

With respect, you are so busy making out that you are so much better than other fans, that you don't read their posts properly. 2 mins on the internet doing research doesn't make you a geek and the away fans concerned were allowed on the park & ride without travel vouchers.
