Can't wait for next week - living in Birmingham I could only go to either this week or next . Still chuffed I got a ticket tbh , spent too much time lurking on here & gave up all hope of the first (competitive) match weeks ago .8 more days :falmer::falmer::albion2::albion2::albion2::falmer::falmer:

Kind of regretting it a little bit now - but my view was either you went to both SSC final AND Spurs to get a taste of the new ground, or you waited till Donny and a proper competitive game in front of a capacity crowd.

Happy to wait but still slightly jealous of those going tomorrow...

Not going tomorrow. And don't regret it for a second. Tonmorrow is just a friendly - a warm up game. I thank all those attending in advance for helping iron out any remaining wrinkles. The first game for me will be Doncaster - and for me that will be the first meaningful match.

Have a great day tomorrow - it should be brilliant - but I' happy at my decision to wait for next Saturday. And yes, I'm pretty sure I'll be crying like a baby as the team come out for the first genuinely competitive and meaningful game at our new stadium.

You have every right to be jealous because tomorrow is going to be the real deal. It is here at last, the opening match. The Doncaster match will obviously be more competitive but as I said TOMORROW IS THE DAY. It's going to be great, Goldstone unveiling ceremony at 10am, then start walking to Amex. Halfway pint at the Withdean. Over the hill to Falmer. And then the Amex comes into view in the distance and we are arriving at our new home. Another pint in Dick's Bar before the programme starts at 1.45pm, yes a marching band, yes an opera singer. Not everyone's taste but this is SPECIAL. Doncaster is one of 23 home league matches but there is only one official opening match, against Tottenham Hotspur F. C. a team that has always tried to play football as it should be played. In fact, not disimilar to the way that Gus is trying to instill into our players. To all those that will be attending ENJOY, to those who chose not to, UNLUCKY.

I'm excited for everyone going but still happy to wait for the Donny game. I've not been inside the stadium at all so far. One more week is not going to make much difference but the nature of proper match will.

Had the first match been anyone but Donny I would have gone to spurs.

Was never really a choice for me, I was never going to go to the Spurs game unless i decided to have a week in Brighton instead of Portugal, no brainer for me!

Then i wasn't going to the Donny game either, i thought it would be to difficult to get tickets and just accepted it wasn't going to happen, even when the tickets went on sale i had made my mind up, so didn't try to get tickets, too late to book planes etc.

Then an old mate that i used to go with when i lived down there rang me this week, asked how i was getting down for the Donny game, i told him i'm not coming, haven't got a ticket.
Yes you bloody have he said, he had just been given 4 tickets in the 1901 and said one of them was mine and that i was staying at his house, he stopped short of offering to come and pick me up from Scotland but i knew it was on his mind if i still said no.

So car hire booked, dogsitter arranged and heading down next Friday, for those of you going tommorrow, jealous? no, not one bit, but hope you all have a great day.

We've been a long, long way together,
through the bad times.....

Now for the good!

Everyone get in here!

I'm feeling a bit jealous of all the excitement regarding tomorrows friendly... so I wanted to take a moment to reflect on why I didn't try and get tickets for it.

The fact I live in Manchester aside...

I decided I'd rather wait till the first competitive match to go to the Amex, to my mind making it extra special. So who's with me?!!!

Note: I'm not saying my way is better, no way, but who else has thought along the same lines I wonder... so must contain their excitement for a MASSIVE 8 days more?!

:bhasign: :falmer: :guitar: :amex: :albion2:

Tomorrow is merely a friendly, the game against us will be a war. We are looking forward to it whether or not the dream game has now been upstaged or seemingly so. Fook the fireworks , we're on our way (tickets permitting) proud and loud to help you make this a memorable day for all the right reasons. Apart from the 3 points that is .........we're pocketing them. :lolol::lolol::lolol:

Invited on tours and familiarisations and even know someone who has an office at the Amex - BUT last game at the Goldstone was Donny and my first experience of the Amex will be Donny. Perfect symmetry and the kids also get to see the ground rammed and with a game that is about points.

But my tickets have gone to 4 non STH who are creaming themselves with excitement. Really chuffed for them.

Cannot wait for next week which will be a historical event. Tomorrow's game is only a friendly , next Saturday is for real.

I'm sure those that couldn't go for whatever reason will sleep comfortably knowing that there was nothing they could do but those that chose not to go because it's only a friendly/to expensive or just couldn't be bothered I hope you finally get to sleep tonight knowing you could & should be there tomorrow.

Mikey pops.

I think 'unlucky' is the wrong word to use. I chose not to go to Spurs for good reasons. I don't feel
unlucky. I will be at Donny and that is what matters to me. Nothing to do with luck or
missing out.

good luck with the walk.

I'm going and really looking forward to it, however what has surprised me reading this thread is how many people travel to see home games from outside of the local area. I knew a lot of people did, however it's still quite surprising.

It's a personal choice, and everyone has different priorities/financial restraints, so no one should be judged either way, lets all celebrate our brand new home, and a bright new future, after everything we have been through over the years, whether it's tomorrow against Spurs, or the big one against Donny :albion2:

I belong in here. I could have gone, theoretically, but I am not because Doncaster is the game that matters, and Doncaster are the opponents I want to see us play first. I am disappointed not to see the first game at our new home, and disappointed not to see some of the Spurs players, but I made a good decision for the right reasons. Enjoy the game and experience ladies and gents, but I'll wait for Doncaster.
