But I do find this a strange thread as there have hardly been any profits of doom on this site. I thought it was going to be about the various commentators, journalists and pundits who relegated us before a ball had been kicked.

But I do find this a strange thread as there have hardly been any prophets of doom on this site. I thought it was going to be about the various commentators, journalists and pundits who relegated us before a ball had been kicked.

I. Metaphorical gristle of course, and yes I realise that the ‘umbles were the least appetising parts of any meat on offer in by-gone days to be served to the lowest in status at the table. A pecking order menu if you will.

2. I did not state in my opening post who specifically I was referring to, in the main it was aimed to all that had negative views on the team’s performances, players, management, tactics, prospects and many other points.

3. Believe me there have been numerous posts on this board about how wrong the club have been. Refer to point 2.

But it still comes back to the same thing - not enjoying our win and success for the win and success itself, but because it gives them the chance to say 'told you so'. In the same way the moaners are accused of liking it when we lose because they get to moan, some people seem to only like it when we win so they can brag about being right, not for the win itself.

Dont agree, I love the way we have played this year, I love our wins, and I can see why we lost when we lost. The people I am talking about are a pain in the neck, they try to bring you down, they think they KNOW and one thing that really pisses me off are people who cannot acknowledge when they have been proven wrong. But the response is still to, metaphorically, turn away from the team celebrations and focus on someone else. It stops being about the win, and becomes about hunting out anyone who doubted (a lot or a little), anyone who moaned (a lot or a little). Forget about them, and enjoy the win.

And there are people who flounce every time we lose "because this place is gonna be full of moaners" aka 'I can't praise anything so I'm going to saunter off and hope no one asks me to defend that mess'. Not a lot different to 'fairweather supporters', only interested when it's going well. It's how different people respond to victories and losses, good performances and bad ones.

Why worry about it when you can focus on enjoying the team's success?

I supported the sacking of Hughton, the appointment of Potter and I've always thought we were going to survive this season. That said, I cannot deny there were times that I feared relegation, and believing we'd be OK was as much an act of faith as it was cold, hard logic.

The key moments since lockdown have often been hinted at but seldom delivered pre-lockdown, i.e. the clinical Trossard winner vs Norwich, the 25-yarder from Bissouma and individual effort from Connolly vs Burnley, the superb teamwork to create Maupay's goal versus Arsenal. And then there is the revelation that is Lamptey.

I'm pleased that I was right and some of my more pessimistic friends were wrong, but who honestly knew it would come together as it has?!?

I don't see a huge issue with asking those who were certain we'd go down, certain we are awful with a manager who doesn't know what he's doing, what they think now we finish strongly with 41 points. I'm interested in these experts coming back and perhaps accepting we weren't anywhere near as bad as they've proclaimed for 12 months or more.

As with all things, it's about opinions.

On NSC I welcome all the pro and anti comments, the sucker-uppers, the nay-sayers, the bed-wetters, the bleeding hearts, the fretters, the eternal optimists, the yo-yo'ers, the gobsmackers, the tin-pots, the dreamers, the killjoys and the the wishful thinkers, to name but a few.

It's called healthy debate, football has and always will be about opinions, and that's exactly why we absolutely bleeding LOVE IT!

Yeah this.

Sure we all feel pessimistic at times, but there is a tendency of the perennial pessimists to force every bad result and performance down our throats with a "see, I told you we were crap!" posts.

The only difference is that when they do it , they get responses back from the posters who will defend their position/the players.
When it's this way around, they stay quiet or pretend they never posted.

One is a Hughton fan, doesn’t support us.

Yeah, both of 'em notably absent on this thread. Hiding behind their (mute) keyboards I'll be bound. It's as though they're p*ssed off that the team stayed up. I know it's about opinions but they are both tedious,repetitive ,unwelcome and frankly boring IMHO.

My piece of humble pie is Webster , think he has been very good since restart. He could still do with a bit more 'just kick it into the stand' at times but he has developed well, that said I am still concerned that with playing him, Dunk and Burn we are still sadly lacking someone who can head the ball so hope we keep Duffy for the games against the more physical teams.

It's just those mentioned are so off the scale, the posters who prefer to look upon 'their' club negatively first, find them easy to hide behind.




Oh and in the spirit of humble pie, I'd like to take this opportunity to get in super early with:-

I don't have family who are season ticket holders, at Liverpool who think he's shitehouse, or anything like that.

TBH I was doom and gloom at the point it was suspended, but weirdly optimistic by the time it resumed. Not sure whether this means I have to eat Humble Pie or not.

It always amuses me that the response of some fans is not to enjoy a win, not to celebrate a successful season, but to hunt out anyone who when things got tough got a little worried about what that form might mean and shove it in their face. Seems odd behaviour. It's like those that are all 'where's the moaners now?!' after we win and play well. It's like they're not happy for our success, they're happy they get to say 'ha! told you so!' (even if they didn't actually say anything, just flounced to avoid the negativity).

I think the fact that we've had to put up with the moaners constantly moaning on here for months on end, allows us the right to give a bit back at the end of the season. At times it felt like being positive about our team and club was a minority point of view.
