I think the fact that we've had to put up with the moaners constantly moaning on here for months on end, allows us the right to give a bit back at the end of the season. At times it felt like being positive about our team and club was a minority point of view.

It seems all the response to my post seem to be saying the same thing. So I will probably stop replying to this thread after this because I'm sure others are getting as bored of this as I am.

The responses are all of the form "but people were moaning/negative/pessimistic and I want to moan about them now!". You're choosing to expand energy on their negativity, rather than just enjoying the win. Enjoy the success. Enjoy your own faith being paid off.

Please step forward, you’re most welcome to a lovely, chewy bit of gristle.

Just to recap, since the restart of the season our boys have done rather well - P9 W3 D3 L3 Points 12

The three defeats were against the (now) top three teams in the League.

We have just beaten our bogey side, away, for the first time in eight years.

So for those of you naysayers who thought we were doomed, thought the team lightweight, thought Potter was out of his depth, thought the tactics all wrong, and any other thing you objected to, well enjoy your ‘Umbles.

Bon Appetit! :drink:

I’d hold off on the crowing for a bit, as There’s still a case for the above.
I don’t think Potter would argue otherwise (to an extent).
For now, Points-wise we’ve done about as well as under Hughton.
The future looks very very good though.
It was so important that we stayed up.

And there are people who flounce every time we lose "because this place is gonna be full of moaners" aka 'I can't praise anything so I'm going to saunter off and hope no one asks me to defend that mess'. Not a lot different to 'fairweather supporters', only interested when it's going well. It's how different people respond to victories and losses, good performances and bad ones.

Why worry about it when you can focus on enjoying the team's success?

adults whining is never a good look; so they should be encouraged to stop being negative for their own benefit, and mine

My piece of humble pie is Webster , think he has been very good since restart. He could still do with a bit more 'just kick it into the stand' at times but he has developed well, that said I am still concerned that with playing him, Dunk and Burn we are still sadly lacking someone who can head the ball so hope we keep Duffy for the games against the more physical teams.

I think there's a fair few more than 2.
It's just those mentioned are so off the scale, the posters who prefer to look upon 'their' club negatively first, find them easy to hide behind.

Oh and in the spirit of humble pie, I'd like to take this opportunity to get in super early with:-

'Signing Lallana really isn't sitting comfortably with me'.

I don't have family who are season ticket holders, at Liverpool who think he's shitehouse, or anything like that.
I'm just so far from convinced by the deal, it's going to take me quite a while to clamber aboard The Lallana Llama Train.

You only like to get on a train that you don't know where it's come from or any idea where it's going.

My preferred mode of transport:-

That said even without your accurate assessment I'd still be down on Lallana - I'm just not seeing 'it'.

Hey Bold, I hadn't realised Spence was dead set against this singing (I know, what are the chances? ) So much like Brexit, when I saw who's for and who's against, I am now 100% #TeamLallana .

Classic thread. Favourite aspect is the obvious closet moaners having a moan about the non-moaners.

As none of the major critics have the cojones to front up and admit they were hopelessly wrong, the thread's perfectly valid and clearly quite appreciated by many.

Only fair to recount my 'live' humble pie moment. It was about 18 months ago during one of the more turgid Hughton phases (when you could name the starting eleven before even waking up on match day morning). Late on in the second half, I completely lost it, with the tentative passing that was going nowhere, and bounced up off my seat with a cry of 'We're never going to score, ****ing around like this!', which I blasted into the echoey wast if the silent West Upper.

Boom. Goal. It took literally 2 seconds.

Cueue 150 people all pointing and laughing at me. Naturally I assumed Full credit for the goal, and took a little bow.

Humble pie is best eaten quickly and with a flourish.

Going on and on about being right and decorating your avatar with a load of Boris Brexit bollocks is the last refuge of the very wrong. Fact.
