right , anyone else got this

after YEARS of waiting for this preying, wishing for this day - worked up with every knock down and a massive grin every time it went in our favour on the day we FINALLY get the nod i'm in a state of limbo - nothingness, its fantastic news but i'm not hitting the ceiling as much as i thought , are we really that unsure about if they will appeal ?

i'm proper excited. sure, there may be an appeal and there may be another delay. there may even be a denial all together. but i'd rather book my place well and truly on the falmer emotional roller-coaster than gingerly lower my shoulder harness only when i'm certain the carriage will again come to a safe stop.

Same here. I'm not particularly worried about an appeal because they now have no grounds but the hard work starts here and it'll be many months before anything actually happens at the Falmer site. Once the first brick is laid then yes, I'll know it's really going ahead...

It's not nothingness.

It's relief, a certain amount of quiet contemplation, and consideration to what happens next. I think we all felt euphoric (understandably) in October 2005 - it was the first time the Government had openly backed our case. So we went mad.

With hindsight, there is an air of sheepishness and 'jumping the gun' for which we now feel a tad embarrassed now.

Lewes District Council and Falmer Parish Council now have it within themselves to conduct themselves with dignity, decorum and to promote a more mature, progressive attitude to this decision. It's knowing that they almost certainly won't that is keeping us down. We have one of two days for this board to explode...

One - September 4th, where we explode into joy because there has been no challenge, or
Two - the day either LDC or FPC denegrate themselves once again with a pathetic vexatious challenge, where we explode with rage.

Either way, this is the lull before the storm...

2010 is nothing. Look at how quickly the World Cups come round, and we;re already a year on from the last one. Summer 2010 could be the best EVER

England crowned as World Champions
Albion kick off at Falmer less than a month later

(ok, I;ve got COMPLETELY carried away there now havn;t I)

Ahhh, the World Cup paraded on the pitch before kickoff.
Then Joe Gatting knocks in a HATTRICK giving us a comfortable 3-1 win, thus the Albion are declared unofficial CHAMPIONS of the World.

Falmer, soon...
Having spent all of my lunchtime reading the legal crap, I'm pretty confident LDC won't have grounds for appeal. For now however, I'll certainly have a beer in contemplation of what might be around the corner for us but I won't get smashed till it's all done and dusted.

I presume that given his obvious split loyalties having won the golden boot at the finals, Joe would play one half for each side. In fact he probably scores their 1 as well as our 3?

Braders - I completely agree and feel the same. I hate being cynical, but I just do not think it's going to be this cut & dry. Even if LDC decide against appealing, then because of the comment Blears made about the impact to the Downs, someone like CPRE will appeal.

Without pissing on anyones parade, I fear that having read it the government have once again completely f***ed up the decision letter

You can't make an omlette without breaking a few eggs. Its obvious that there will be a DEGREE of damage to the environment (at the end of the day, its a FIELD we are building on). It would be silly for the Government NOT to ackowledge that fact. But having taken all that into account, the judgement is that the benefits far outweigh the negative impact. It has been examined at length and justifed, so that particular point should leave no room for appeal.

But then we said that last time - How many of us said "oh the reason why it's taking this long is because Prescott wants to dot the I's and cross the T's"!
