Don't really do roasts, little point when cooking for one...tonight I shall be having, palak gosht (Punjabi lamb with spinach) served with rice and chapattis...it is bubbling away nicely on the hop and filling the house with that lovely curry aroma!

Sounds rather nice - recipe ? Home-made chipattis I hope.

Recipe from a book called 50 great curries of India by Camellia Panjabi...sorry to say that the chapattis are shop bought, but were nearly homemade as Sainsbury had moved them and they took an age to find!

I may just have that book, I'll have to check. Have made my own chipp's, but need more practice, not restaurant standard. Homemade parathas are more fun to make.

Sounds like you need both, in fact it sounds like you should spend rather more time being looked after by your mum, at the mo.

Sirloin steak (half price from Tesco's), roquefort cheese sauce, herbed chipped potatoes and swede (a la Delia), fried onions, grilled tomatoes, and peas.

And London Pride to wash down.

Excellent - even if I say so myself.

That sounds the best choice so far but would swop the swede for baked parsnips and add mushrooms.

Was going to the Dorset today for Sunday lunch but could hardly get in the door! testament to the quality and quantity of their sunday grub. Ended up in the the Wagon and Horses and very nice it was.

We have our roast at lunchtime now as Junior works from 4 till 10 on a Sunday, chicken wrapped in parma ham and stuffed with mozzarella cheese - very nice as well.

I bloody love chicken but that sounds dreadfull, how was it BH

The lamb was OK, will change the recipe next time and add a little more cumin and coriander, plus a little less water. It is a very good book, have cooked maybe ten of the curries, there is one made with lamb chops that has cumin fried potatoes that is a personal favourite.

Over done it of late with the Sunday roasts, so made a chicken and gammon pie this morning along with some pesto roast new potatoes. Then cleared off to football leaving my other half to pop everything in the oven and sort out a few veg. Bloody lovely bit followed up with shop bought tarte tatin, which was only average. Got to find time to have another crack at that one myself, it is fantastic when done right.
