"You lost, get over it" comes to mind...
People don't though. For some reason I can't get my head around people no longer believe in democracy if the vote goes against them.

That being said, I'd much rather people sign a meaningless petition than take to the streets.
Couldn't agree more.

This will be

Xm people have signed a petition for you to call a general election, will you do it Mr Starmer?
No!
Right lets move on.

Quite. Whatever happened to “The democratic will of the people”? Or doesn’t it count when they lose?
I'd describe myself as politically agnostic because it's all so tedious to me, but politics – here and in other places – seems to be just a mundance cycle of shite. Party A gets in and is – to a large extent – at the mercy of whether the economy (another cycle) is booming, at breaking point, or somewhere inbetween. Party A goes through ups and downs until things are so bad that people want a change to party B. Party B gets in and the whole charade happens all over again. May as well roll with it because most of the decisions are so far out of your control whether you vote or not!

This current cabal think they can lie, lie and lie then get away with it.
All politicians lie, all parties lie. Why? Because we don't like, and won't vote for politicians who tell the truth. Especially unpleasant truths.

Oh we say we do - but we don't. If Party X say "Things are really bad and the only way we can fix things is to raise taxes and maybe cut services", and Party Y say "Yes, things are really bad but we can work a bit of political magic and fix things without raising your taxes or cutting services" ... then people will vote for Party Y in their millions. Even though we're all a bit old to be believing in magic.

I'm not a labour or conservative supporter per se, but how anyone can say this after the last lot is beyond me.
Exactly, but you’ve just replied to NSC’s very own agent provocateur, who thinks its very amusing to stir.

Took a second to look at the data and realise this is a load of nonsense:

On NSC for over two decades...
I can't believe anyone would sign this petition, we get a vote every four or five years, that's how it works. We get to complain and grumble in the meantime, because that is also... how it works.

I hate the current Government with a passion but this petition is ridiculous. Labour won whether I like it or not. It shows that there are many people on both sides of the political spectrum who can't cope with not getting their own way I guess. Sad reflection on modern society. I sort of get how remoaners feel now though. If you feel that Brexit damages the country in the same way that I think 5 years of Labour will then I get your viewpoint. (The Tories were dreadful before any whataboutery kicks in!).

I've a better idea, set up a petition demanding world peace and solving climate change.

Once we get a few people to sign, all world leaders are bound to fall in line and fully agree and take action to achieve it.

We may then be able to enjoy Christmas this year.

I'd love to see how this played out, if it was decided (for whatever reason) to have a GE off the back of a random petition.

Then what? Wait until whichever party gets in to Fack more stuff up and then people throw their toys out of the pram AGAIN? And then have another GE and wait until whichever party gets in to Fack more stuff up and then people throw their toys out of the pram AGAIN? Etc, etc, etc.

We could live our lives in an annual state of election cycles an 'shit governments' and the PM would get about as much time in the gig as a PL manager! Yep, I'm sure that will provide the kind of stability the country needs to thrive! :lolol:
