Just thought I would over-generalise as well.
I caught a documentary on recruiting of Marines in the US on the tv a while back.
After seeing that I'd actually prefer if most people who sign up stayed at home and loaded up on grog.
It would be a hell of a lot less dangerous than actually giving them a gun and training em how to use it.

You actually come across as someone who'd be just like them if the situations were reversed. And that's in no means intending to be a slight.
If the Germans had conquered England even today 60 years later I cant believe that you personally wouldn't still be someone who would just get over it.
If you had pride in your nation you'd be telling your kids about how shit you or your parents were treated and how you hated a foreigner telling you what to do.
So that even when you eventually passed away your kids would then tell their kids about what made England great so that it was never forgotten.
Because thats what all humans do o the whole when put in that situation.

As often happens though the victors write history and the losers are consigned to just talking about it amongst themselves.
And when you lose you will inevitably bear the grudge much longer than the victor will.
Plus the Celtic types did favour oral history over written history for a long time.
Which possibly explains why they are still going at it after so long.
If your elders are always talking about it you will eventually be brainwashed.
If it relied on them picking up a book to actually learn it hardly anyone would remember it.
