my personal favourite was getting a stick and crush down the stems making trails through the farmers wheat or Barley field, then getting chased by the farmer obviously, stupid really because.

One night the babysitter arrived with her boyfriend the farmers eldest son who patrolled the field and occasionally did the mowing or whatever, there was an awkward silence and he actually said nothing in front of my parents, but explained he was a kid once, but it costs his dad a fortune. I never did it again, but still miss it.

State schools had football and cricket teams . Games against other teams on Saturday morning with away games by coach. So many teachers whatever subject they taught if they had an interest they would coach at nets and attend school matches. No question of getting overtime pay they did it because they wanted to help out and get involved.

Looking back I have a few concerns that one of my PE teachers did indeed wish to 'get involved'.

My Mum bought me one in 1982. I remember when she gave it to me. She cried and I think I nearly did too. Very special present. Wasn't even my birthday. I think it was a tenner back then, which wasn't cheap to us. I paid £450 for this year's. Fraction of the cricket as well. And at stupid times.

My 1st junior membership was £15. Handbook, all john player league games on a sunday afternoon, gillette cup games in sunmer hols for a small additional fee if quarters or semis (b&h was usually pre the summer hols but would get down there after school) and same for the 3 day county championship.

Kiss chase. I remember being both shy and stupid - I was the fastest runner by a distance so the girls could never catch me and I thought I had won! - when it was my turn to catch I used to get the girls and hold them for another boy to catch up.

I think girls terrified me until I was about 16

I saw it last week at Cineworld in Crawley. Monday - Wednesday tickets are £6.

I stumped up an extra £4/ticket to see it on the IMAX screen because I am a FANCY DAN.
