It usually starts with me thinking "put the ball out and settle for a point , but somehow it gets worked out to the left wing and loops into our area. However, I am comforted by the double fact that Burn has it covered and even if it reaches Benteke he will laughingly trip over it. But then....."

Once the thought enters my head I know that I'll be awake for hours .:yawn:

To calculate the answer, Newton's second law is used, but the following information is also required.

To calculate initial ball velocity:
E = energy used [to whack the ball] - need to know weight of cue-stick and strength of arm - in Newtons [energy]

Next we need to understand the object:
M = the mass of the snooker ball - Aramith balls are 142 grams
R = the radius of the snooker ball - Aramith balls have a diameter of 2 & 1/16 inches, so R = 1 & 1/32 inch

Then, to ascertain distance travelled, we need to factor in the environment variables:
F = friction - the friction of the green baize slowing the ball down - assmed the cloth nap is standard [top of table to bottom] so increased nap-resistance will be present
A = Air resistance, including any wind effect - 1 bar is assumed, at sea-level

Computer says 51.28 metres.
