The smell of pipe tobacco takes me back to the mid 70's

Also, that music at the start of sports report on Radio 5 as we got into my dads car at 5pm as well as the results read by James Alexander Gordon.

Sometimes we would turn it right up and think it the greatest tune of all time and other times my older brother would would say 'turn that effing thing off''.

Checking the programme in the second half after the 1/2 time scores were posted on the advertising hoarding before kids swapped the numbers around.
The old fella walking round the touchine with the board on his shoulder for the lucky draw.
Running after the final whistle to catch the Southdown buses parked outside Hove Park to take us home, Woodingdean in my case and someone always had a little transistor radio as for Sports report with James Alexander Gordon.

For me it's hearing Sussex by the Sea anywhere in the world. Real lump in throat time was listening to a military band in a little town in Canada when they suddenly started to play GOSBTS. I wanted to jump on a plane there and then and head for the Goldstone.

Plus I must add every time I see a photo of my late Dad I think of the Goldstone. He died before the troubles so knows nothing of our fight since then. I keep telling him we have been through a lot but we are still here!

I felt quite emotional when I literally walked into an old turnstile in the Brighton museum. I had no idea they had that in there. I've got a couple of very poor photos of the Goldstone (from inside), seemingly the rest of my collection has disappeared. I'll try and scan them in.

What sight, sound or smell etc takes you back home to The Goldstone?

Whenever I hear Little Lies and Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac (which have both been on the radio recently) I'm immediately back at The Goldstone in 1988!

i was walking past the church on the corner of Newtown rd and Goldstone Lane the other day and it reminded me of the programme seller that used to stand on the steps. That led me to recall being 'chased' by a group of Leeds fans in 1985 from there and along wilbury,all the way to Hove station. With the fear of geting a good kicking going through my head, I was pleasantly surprised to find out they were just late for their train....

The terracing was painted ina particularly distinctive shade of blue and I have a little bit that I stashed away before demolition. onbviusly not this, but in the sam colour

looking at it makes me quite "tired and emotional" sometimes

and sometime i catch myself quitely fantasising about "Drenchlighting"


and who would not "luvvit, absolutley luvvit", to wake up looking at one of these every morning.........

there are certain types of cigarette smoke that do it for me too.

I drive past on the old shoreham road all the time without even thinking about it. However, approaching from the other side and seeing this place sets me off as well.

The smell of smoke and the sight of turf lit up at night does it for me. Also the wooden seat I took from the West Stand. I hope over years we develop the same fondness for Falmer

It would be quite nice to have something from The Goldstone at Falmer (not the actual stone). Didn't we flog off that clock for next to nothing and wasn't it donated in the memory of a deceased fan?

The fragrant aroma of the north stand urinals when they were at their best in the mid to late 70's.

Bloke with the board who got ten times more stick than the bloke at Withdean.
