Can RDZ play him? I'm thinking work permits and all that - will he have to play for a few months elsewhere in Europe first?

The club can make a case for special dispensation on the work permit front, as he’s a ‘wonderkid’, the price of the transfer and him being a current youth international.

Not the best evidence but I’m sure the club announced the deal will go through in Jan.

The most curious thing..
It all depends how MacAllister's hangover is progressing

Yes they have reported it will go through once the window has opened but as of yet it hasn't been confirmed, that was why I questioned you.

I assume the work permit needs doing which won't happen until Tuesday at the earliest.

He is ours.

What team he ends up playing for and whether or not he gets a work permit is another matter. He may have to do a ‘Mitoma’ at USG in the very worst case scenario but I assume that this is highly unlikely.

We should have known: numerous threads and thousands of posts, but end up 19th in net spend table: https://www.planetfootball.com/quic...-net-spend-january-2023-comparing-every-club/.
Yes, we're 20th in that table over the two 22/23 windows combined;
And we're 20th on how much it cost to assmeble our squad: https://www.planetfootball.com/quic...r-window-net-spend-liverpool-man-united-city/
And 18th highest wage bill: https://www.planetfootball.com/quic...ing-arsenal-newcastle-man-utd-city-liverpool/

Yet we're:
6th in the league table;
6th on wins;
6th on form over the last 10 games;
4th on goals scored;
7th on goals conceded;
1st on youth of squad: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/startseite/wettbewerb/GB1;
2nd on 'Other 14' points against the big 6:

We're also 4th on least shots faced per match, 8th on most shots taken per match; 5th on number of shots it takes us to score a goal: https://experimental361.com/2023/01/11/scatter-graphics-premier-league-11-jan-2023/

And RDZ's right, there is still room for improvement. Only team in the top 6 under acheiving the Xpts: https://understat.com/league/EPL

Go on then, how many signings do we reckon we'll need given our European tour has been booked?

With João Pedro confirmed, and Milner and Dahoud looking likely, where else will we need to strengthen the squad?

This is of course contingent on our outgoings but my early expectations are:-

New GK to challenge Steele - Assuming Sanchez will be off following his recent tantrum and our loanee keepers won't be deemed ready yet.

A new right back, Veltman will be here next year as we've got a year's option on his contract but clearly it would be good to get him signed longer term. Lamptey I'm not sure about, he's had a huge amount of injury problems recently and there were rumours that we might loan him out back in January I seem to recall - perhaps this might happen in the summer window. I think Milner has played at RB for Liverpool for spells but can't see him being played there as anything other than a short term option.

Two new centre backs - with Colwill going back to Chelsea and it being highly improbable imo we'll be able to sign him permanantly, we'll need at least two centre backs I think. We'll no doubt exercise the year extention in Van Hecke's contract, although it's rather unclear to me how RDZ rates him at this stage. Despite Veltman being able to play at CB when needed adeptly, with Webster's injury problems I think 2 CB signings are a must.

A new left back - as an understudy to Pervis.

Central midfield - A complicated area - it sounds to me like Ali Mac is definately off and Caicedo probably will be too. Gilmour has impressed me in recent games so he'll be an option alongside the ever reliable Gross and the two pending signings of Milner and Dahoud. The question mark is what will be done with the likes of Alzate, Moder etc, will they be given a pre season or are they deemed surplus to requirements now? If Caicedo does go clearly there will be a big void from a combative perspective and could see us looking at signing 2 more midfielders in addition to those already mentioned.

On the wings - I think we're just about OK, I don't think Mitoma will go this summer (famous last words!) and we've got March, Enciso, Buonanotte and João Pedro who can play out wide. Perhaps we might like one more option on the right hand side but don't think it's top of the priority list.

Options up front - Welbeck, Ferguson, João Pedro and Undav - Undav is a bit of a conundrum for me as imo he's a decent finisher but there are some glaring deficiencies in his game. Think he's OK as an option off the bench but not someone you can rely upon to start games - perhaps one more striker would be nice, and would be definately needed if Undav was to be loaned out etc but think he'll be retained for next season.

So I make that 7/8 signings required in my view and no doubt the club will want to try and get as much of their buisness done as possible before the US tour in July - best wishes to the recruitment team!

Recently linked with verstalie Moroccan Zakaria Abouklal. Former AZ player which means he's got great data. Plays either flank. Wants out of Toulouse following some kind of incident.

Alex Scott will play tonight for England U20 Vs Tunisia. Given the number 4 so will be interesting to see where he plays.

Frattesi continued to be linked despite supposed interest from some very big clubs.

Why worry just sit back what will be will be I have complete faith in TB’s Star Lizard analytical player assessments and RDZ’s team to train them, I am not even that concerned about players leaving as we now have secured a European place I suspect it might quell an exodus
