Sussex but not by the sea
People do forget that we would have Neto on board now had he not failed the medical, could early the club expected him to pass it, I'm sure we have other options to him but I guess these now require more time.
The striker situation is a bit of a concern though.

I can't believe the number of whingers and whiners on this thread, can't believe they have not learned anything about transfer windows in previous years, can't believe some even think the club aren't recruiting anyone anymore and that we are done. FFS you are not running the club even though you seem to think you know best. Leave it to those who have served us well with recruits over the past few years.

Two years ago today, we signed Bobster again, but we never have good signings in August, do we?

Here's Neto laid up after his Knee operation post Albion medical. Tough for us but albions due diligence has done him a favour

I don't understand how the medical team have 'saved' the Albion.

"The Brazilian has been known to suffer from knee problems during time in Belgium"

Had the fella bounced in like a spring chicken then brilliant.
The medical team did a fantastic job on saving Connor.

But to find out a player with a gammy knee has got a gammy knee, isn't even beyond Dr Nick Riviera.

Club reckons Baldock and Knockaert are 50/50 for the city game when really we all kinda know their recovery status is a little behind that estimate

Stephen Dobbie ! Elvis Manu !

And Zamora, goldson, Duffy, Lopez, Vicente, baldock, Uwe, Norwood, Stephen ward etc.

Since being at the Amex we have made some wonderful August signings, some very late in August.
Lets not forget such great signings as Agustein, Colunga, Gardner, Hola, Hammond and McCourt

Failure to prepare and all that B.W ?

TBH CJ, I am genuinely confused that nothing is happening... believe it or not, I do have faith in PB, TB and the recruitment team... I can only presume we need to loosen the purse strings a little bit / learn to be more realistic on market prices... what is your theory for the club's failure to land a ST, CM timely?

Because they were signed in August or because they weren't any good ? Or because the recruitment set up was different / lacking ? Or because we didn't have the budget or because ??

PS: Hammond did a decent job for us in 12/13.

Hammond was "the one we've all been waiting for" no less.

My belief is because many of the late August signings appear to be panic signings and my added list could hardly be called successful signings could they CJ?. But I will agree Hammond was the best of those.

Agreed . Not our finest hour.
But How does that explain Duffy et al and the similar list of August transfer hits ? You can obviously make decent signings at any point in the transfer window depending on your budget, recruitment team , attractiveness of club, quality of manager , other signings in the chain, luck (see Neto)

But the idea, which I know is not what you're saying, that it's all about the mantra - early signings GOOD, late signings BAD - and nothing else in between is ridiculous.
